Supply Technician
About the role
This position is located in the Medical Supply Distribution areas of the Logistics Service Department within the Long Beach Veteran Affairs Health Care System (VAHCS). The incumbent ensures that supplies and material are distributed to all areas including: wards, clinics, operating rooms, secondary storage locations, and other hospital facilities including, but not limited to, sterile and non-sterile medical supplies, instruments sets, and equipment.
Major duties include, but are not limited to the following: Delivers supplies in a timely and accurate manner, ensuring supplies and material are delivered in sterile and operational condition. Checks inventory for stock identified for recalled items and hazard alerts. Monitors expiration dates, rotates stock to limit outdates and removes items from use as required by outdates. Informs clinic and ward personnel on new or changed items and supplies, current medical resources and shelf life. Communicates with customers and vendors to obtain information regarding medical supplies. Interacts with clinical and administrative customers to ensure issues and needs are identified and either resolved or escalated. Maintains stock at primary and secondary inventory locations for all clinical and administrative services. Distributes items according to established or ad hoc requirements in a computerized inventory management system. Completes specialty cart preparation and stocking. Utilizes a computerized inventory system, to ensure sterility and integrity of the supplies and material and the data integrity of the inventory management system. Utilizes computerized systems including bar-coding and automated inventory systems for the delivery and inventory control of supplies. Utilizes an automated inventory system to monitor issues and receipts in support of stock replenishment processes. May perform other duties as assigned. Work Schedule: TBD.
