Mopar Product Development Performance Engineer
About the role
The Mopar Performance Product Development Engineer is responsible for the design, development, validation, and launch of aftermarket performance and accessory products across Stellantis vehicle platforms. The role leads product development activities for suspension systems, air induction systems, exhaust systems, lift kits, and vehicle dynamics enhancements while coordinating with suppliers, CAE
teams, testing organizations, and cross-functional stakeholders to deliver high-quality products.
Key Responsibilities:
Product Development & Engineering
- Design, develop, and release Mopar performance and accessory products for chassis, suspension, and powertrain applications.
- Develop high-performance air induction and exhaust systems for aftermarket applications.
- Design and develop suspension lift kits, lowering kits, wheels, axles and other off-road products across Stellantis
- platforms.
- Lead off-road development trips and other marketing events such as SEMA, Easter Jeep, Toledo Jeep fest
- Define required chassis and suspension components based on package studies, suspension travel analysis, and vehicle dynamics requirements.
- Vehicle Integration & Validation
- Develop Design Verification Plan and Report (DVP&R) requirements for components and systems.
- Coordinate component-level and vehicle-level validation testing.
- Work with CAE, design, and testing teams to ensure designs meet load, durability, and performance requirements.
- Evaluate vehicle dynamics, ride, handling, and emissions impacts of new products.
- Ensure compliance with applicable regulatory requirements and vehicle integration standards.
- Supplier Management
- Lead technical reviews with suppliers.
- Support suppliers through design development and engineering approval processes.
- Manage supplier deliverables, timing, testing, and issue resolution.
- Continuous Improvement
- Capture lessons learned from previous programs and regulatory reviews.
- Develop and maintain engineering best practices.
- Support continuous improvement of launch and validation processes.
- Review and approve engineering deliverables through the PPAP process.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, Automotive Engineering, or related Engineering discipline
- 5 years’ experience in Product development for automobile
- Experience in product development and manufacturing process
- Design, Functional Integration analysis
- Intermediate Skill set in NX
- Knowledge of vehicle regulatory specs and requirements
- Good Knowledge in GD&T concepts & Change Management.
- Vehicle suspension system and vehicle architecture knowledge
- Component level & system level Testing knowledge
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in vehicle dynamics and suspension design
