Director of Sales and Events
About the role
Hotel Kabuki is seeking an exceptional Director of Sales and Events to lead the hotel’s sales and event operations. This role oversees the Sales and Events budget and P&L, revenue forecasting, business plan development, and ownership meetings. The Director also develops and implements short- and long-term strategies across all sales and catering channels to achieve the hotel’s revenue goals and grow market share.
The Director of Sales and Events must be able to train and monitor the group and transient contractual agreement process, quoting rates, sending referrals, setting traces, and the management of retention, reactivation, and acquisition accounts. This role reports directly to the General Manager with oversight from the Regional Vice President of Sales and Events.

The salary range for this position is $120K–$160K.
Sales Leadership
- Develop and execute comprehensive sales strategies that maximize revenue, market share, and profitability across key business segments.
- Lead the sales components of the annual business planning process, budget development, revenue forecasting, and strategic market analysis.
- Establish clear sales priorities and deployment strategies based on business needs, market conditions, and revenue opportunities.
Identify emerging opportunities and trends and develop strategies to outperform competitive market conditions.
- Maintain accountability for achieving group, catering, leisure, business transient, and overall sales objectives.
Partner closely with Revenue Management and hotel leadership to optimize business mix, pricing opportunities, need periods, and overall revenue performance.
Team Leadership & Talent Development
- Build, inspire, and lead a best-in-class sales organization focused on performance, collaboration, and accountability.
- Recruit, mentor, coach, and develop high-performing sales leaders and future talent.
- Foster a culture of collaboration, urgency, ownership, and exceptional customer service.
- Establish clear performance expectations, goals, and sales activity standards.
- Provide ongoing coaching and professional development to strengthen individual and team performance.
Group, Catering & Special Events
- Drive strategic group and catering initiatives
- Develop and maintain relationships with key industry influencers, event planners, travel advisors, meeting professionals, and corporate accounts.
- Actively identify, solicit, and secure new business opportunities while strengthening relationships with existing accounts.
Partner closely with hotel operations to deliver exceptional experiences that generate repeat business, referrals, and long-term client relationships.
Lead direct sales efforts for citywide events and group buyouts, as assigned.
Financial & Business Acumen
- Maintain ownership of the Sales budget and effectively manage departmental expenses.
- Deliver accurate sales forecasts, production updates, and market intelligence to hotel leadership, ownership, and corporate partners.
- Present business results, sales strategies, opportunities, and performance updates during ownership and executive review meetings.
- Analyze market trends, booking pace, account production, conversion, sales activity, and financial performance to drive informed decision-making.
- Establish measurable sales goals and hold the team accountable for achieving revenue, activity, and productivity expectations.

- 5+ years of progressive hotel sales leadership experience, preferably within luxury, lifestyle, resort, or destination properties.
- Demonstrated success leading high-performing sales teams and consistently achieving or exceeding revenue objectives.
- Proven experience in group sales, catering, special events.
- Strong financial and business acumen with experience in budgeting, forecasting, revenue strategy, and profit optimization.
- Exceptional communication, presentation, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
- Strong understanding of sales strategy, account development, business mix, market segmentation, and competitive positioning.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial, lifestyle-driven environment.
- Experience working with ownership groups, asset managers, and corporate stakeholders preferred.
