Distribution Analyst

Position Summary

The Distribution Analyst supports the distribution and supply chain teams by collecting, analyzing, and reporting operational data to improve inventory management, order fulfillment, transportation efficiency, and warehouse performance. This role is responsible for maintaining routine reports, monitoring key performance metrics, identifying trends, and providing analytical support for day-to-day distribution operations.

The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, proficient in Excel and reporting tools, and capable of translating operational data into actionable insights that support efficient distribution processes and service excellence.

Key Responsibilities

Reporting & Analysis

• Collect and analyze distribution, inventory, transportation, and warehouse performance data.
• Prepare recurring and ad hoc reports for Operations and Supply Chain leadership.
• Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) including inventory accuracy, order fill rates, shipping performance, and productivity metrics.
• Identify trends, variances, and opportunities for operational improvement.
• Maintain reporting dashboards and ensure data accuracy.

Operational Support

• Support distribution leaders with data and reporting needed for daily operations.
• Assist with labor planning, workload analysis, and operational forecasting.
• Investigate operational variances and provide data-driven recommendations.
• Participate in regular operational reviews and performance meetings.
• Support projects related to warehouse optimization and process improvements.

Inventory & Distribution Management

• Analyze inventory movement and replenishment activity across distribution locations.
• Track inventory levels and identify potential stock shortages or overstock situations.
• Support cycle count analysis and inventory accuracy initiatives.
• Assist in evaluating shipping and transportation performance.

Process Improvement

• Identify opportunities to improve distribution efficiency and reduce operational costs.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives through data collection and performance tracking.
• Document reporting processes and standard operating procedures.
• Recommend enhancements to existing reports and workflows.

Data Integrity

• Perform data validation and quality checks to ensure accurate reporting.
• Maintain reporting files, databases, and documentation.
• Ensure consistent use of operational metrics and reporting standards.
• Assist with data cleanup and process standardization activities.

Qualifications

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Operations Management, Logistics, Analytics, or related field preferred.

Experience

• 2-4 years of experience in distribution, logistics, supply chain, operations analysis, or a related analytical role.
• Experience working in a warehouse, distribution center, manufacturing, or supply chain environment preferred.

Skills & Knowledge

• Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including PivotTables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, and basic data analysis.
• Experience with ERP, WMS, or supply chain systems preferred.
• Familiarity with Power BI, Tableau, or similar reporting tools is a plus.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Ability to communicate findings clearly to operational stakeholders.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

Required

• Bachelor's degree in Data Analytics, Business Administration, Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, Information Systems, or a related field.
• 2+ years of experience in data analytics, business analysis, operations analysis, or a related role.
• Experience working with reporting and visualization tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or similar platforms.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including Pivot Tables, formulas, and data analysis functions.
• Experience querying and analyzing data using SQL.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Preferred

• Experience supporting operations, supply chain, customer service, or business process functions.
• Knowledge of Power Query, Power Automate, Python, R, or other analytical tools.
• Experience with KPI development and performance management reporting.
• Familiarity with process improvement methodologies such as Lean or Six Sigma.
