About the role

This vacancy is for a GS-0201-15, Supervisory Human Resources Specialist located in the Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Coast Guard, OFFICE OF CIVILIAN HUMAN RESOURCES OPERATIONS in WASHINGTON, District of Columbia.

You will serve as the Office Chief, Civilian Human Resources Operations. You will be responsible for planning and directing the personnel and operations of the Office of Civilian Human Resources Operations, which includes staffing, classification, benefits and personnel processing records management programs for the entire Coast Guard (CG) nationwide. Employees are in locations nationwide and organized into five branches -- four branches provide customers with the full range of staffing and classification services and the fifth branch provide services in the areas of employee benefits, retirement, and worker's compensation. Being a CG Civilian makes you a valuable member of the CG team. Typical work assignments include: Planning, administering, and overseeing Coast Guard-wide civilian HR operational programs (staffing, classification, records management, retirement, benefits). Supervising, managing, and leading a large, geographically dispersed, and multi-disciplinary workforce (including 5 subordinate supervisors). Formulating, evaluating, and recommending complex civilian HR operating policies, plans, and program modifications. Representing the agency's interests, maintaining liaison, and collaborating with senior leadership, departmental officials, and external stakeholders.
