This position is located in the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), Office of Facilities and Asset Management (OFAM), Organizational Resources and Support Division (ORS), Emergency Management, Readiness, Logistics, and Support Branch (EMRLS), Mission Assurance Office (MAO). MAO supports the goals and principles outlined in CBP Emergency Management. With CBP personnel, facilities, and assets in all 50 states, the District of Columbia, four U.S. territories and 35 foreign countries, CBP has the potential to be severely impacted by countless natural hazards, biological and chemical hazards, technological hazards, and orchestrated attacks. Working within the strategic areas of continuity, emergency response, and test, training, and exercise, MAO works to enhance OFAM's readiness posture to effectively respond when an incident occurs. This position starts at a salary of $121,785.00 (GS-13, Step 1) to $158,322.00 (GS-13, Step 10). GS Salary: Visit this link to view the locality pay tables by geographic area. Typical work assignments include: Serving as an emergency management specialist for accomplishing Emergency Preparedness Initiatives, to include Emergency Preparedness/Response, Continuity of Operations, Incident Response, and Risk Management. Working closely with the Mission Assurance Officer, with the support from all levels of government, to include Federal, State, Local, Territories, and Tribal, in preventing, protecting, preparing for, responding to, recovering from, and mitigating crises, disasters, hazards, humanitarian emergencies, or similar. Leading complex projects and defining critical quality factors and process improvements on key initiatives such as preparedness and response, training, and exercises, activation and mobilization of resources, ongoing emergency and command operations, response and recovery operations, continuity planning and operations, communications, logistics, hazard risk assessment, hazard effects, hazard classification, and collaborating with stakeholders and partners. Complying with and following emergency management-related directives, regulations, policies, civil rights laws, standards, and guidance (e.g., National Security Strategy, Presidential Policy Directives, Homeland Security Presidential Directives, National Mitigation Framework, National Incident Management System, National Response Framework, and National Disaster Recovery Framework). Assessing, inspecting, or evaluating emergency management processes, plans, standard operating procedures, or guidance for compliance with established emergency management directives, regulations, policies, civil rights laws, standards, and guidance.
