Senior Backend Engineer

The role

Raydar is recruiting for this role on behalf of our client. Own and evolve server-side services that operate under heavy, continuous load, while bringing AI-assisted approaches into production engineering. You will take responsibility for key components from design through operation and collaborate closely with mobile, data and machine learning colleagues.

What you'll do

- Strengthen backend services that process high-volume streaming data, live media and push notifications.

- Bring AI into backend workflows by shaping services that automated agents can use safely, building validation pipelines and recommending where agents can act on their own.

- Take end-to-end ownership of core components, from data intake pipelines to external APIs and internal operator tooling.

- Share an on-call rotation to keep a round-the-clock platform dependable.

- Partner each day with mobile, machine learning and data colleagues to deliver measurable gains in latency, correctness and cost.

Requirements

What we're looking for

- 6 to 10 years of backend engineering experience.

- Personal ownership of event-driven or streaming systems used by a very large consumer base, with a clear understanding of how those services behaved when they failed.

- Experience designing or restructuring systems so that verification and evaluation are built in, including LLMs in live production paths.

- Daily use of AI coding assistants and a record of replacing parts of manual workflows with AI agents.

- Strong distributed-systems fundamentals, including queues, relational and analytical data stores, observability and container orchestration.

- Comfort with Go or Python, though sound judgment about scaling matters more than any single language.

- Startup or founder experience, ideally at a company that reached meaningful scale.

- Genuine engagement with the AI community, such as meetups, following model releases or side projects.

Bonus points

- Experience with live video, streaming or broadcast infrastructure.

- A background that includes leading engineers and returning to an individual contributor role, or moving across disciplines.

- Base salary: USD 200,000 to 260,000 per year
