About the role

This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) & eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after review of the EDRP application. Learn more As independently licensed health professionals, CRNAs are responsible and accountable for their practice. The scope of practice includes direct patient care, administration, educational and research activities. The CRNA works with diverse age groups to include adult and geriatric patients and is able to meet age specific needs of the patient population served. The CRNA is clinically accountable to the Chief, Anesthesia Service. CRNAs practice in collaboration with other health care professionals in a collegial relationship to achieve common goals for care, safety, and welfare of patients. CRNAs provide anesthetic services within four general categories: 1. Pre-anesthesia preparation and evaluation 2. Anesthesia induction, maintenance, and emergence 3. Post anesthesia care 4. Peri-anesthetic and clinical support functions outside the OR suite The CRNA demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary when performing his/her duties in providing care appropriate to the VA patient. He/she demonstrates knowledge of age-associated changes, illnesses and potential disabilities in order to work with adult and geriatric patients. He/she possesses the ability to communicate, assess and/or interpret data and information reflective of the patient's status to identify patient's requirements in providing the care needed as described in policies, procedures and following sound practices. He/she involves the patient's family or significant other in decision making related to the patient's plan of care when appropriate.

All applicants tentatively selected for VA employment in a testing designated position are subject to urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment. Applicants who refuse to be tested will be denied employment with VA. English Language Proficiency. In accordance with 38 U.S.C. 7402(f), no person shall serve in direct patient care positions unless they are proficient in basic written and spoken English. Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959. Subject to background/security investigation. Must pass pre-employment physical evaluation/examination. Participation in the seasonal influenza vaccination program is a requirement for all Department of Veterans Affairs Health Care Personnel (HCP). You may be required to serve a probationary period.
