About the role

About the Position: This position is with the Defense Health Agency. It is located within the Department of Pharmacy at Army Health Clinic Ireland, in Fort Knox, KY. The Primary purpose of the position is to serve as a staff pharmacist. Knowledge of pharmaceuticals must be sufficient to determine the appropriateness of a given medication for neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult or geriatric patients. This is a Direct Hire Solicitation Recruitment incentives MAY be authorized.

Provide authoritative instructions on pharmaceuticals, advice and assistance to prescribing and dispensing officials on effectiveness, suitability, hazards, and other aspects of their use.

Look for indications of misuse or abuse of pharmaceuticals and recommends corrective action.

Provide pharmacy input to quality improvement reviews and similar processes.

Conduct training of professional, non-professional, and prescribing staff on developments in drug therapy, rational therapeutics.

Advise on effectiveness and efficiency of various regimens and alternatives, and cost-effective prescribing.

Conduct patient education concerning the medication, its administration, signs of reaction, and related matters.

Oversee outpatient pharmacy functions for the full range of pharmaceuticals provided in the medical treatment facility (MTF), to include controlled, investigational, highly potent, and other drugs requiring special handling.

Report/document medication errors and/or unusual occurrences.
