Pay: $10.00/HR - $12.00/HR (Pending on certification)
Schedule: Part-Time (Monday-Friday | 4-5 hours per day/hours vary from 8am-1pm)

Position Overview
Lake Providence Nursing and Rehabilitation is seeking a dependable and organized Ward Clerk to provide administrative and operational support to the Nursing Department.
The Ward Clerk serves as an important resource for residents, families, visitors, nursing staff, and other healthcare professionals. This position will manage phones and messages, maintain records, coordinate resident transportation and appointments, assist with nursing department projects, and help ensure the nurses' station and supply areas remain organized.
CNA certification is preferred. Depending on staffing needs, a CNA-certified Ward Clerk may also be asked to provide floor support or assist with resident transportation to appointments.
Key Responsibilities
- Answer telephone calls, take messages, and route calls promptly and accurately.
- Coordinate and maintain the transportation schedule for resident appointments and physician visits.
- Assist with scheduling resident appointments and follow-up services.
- Maintain and file medical records and other required documentation.
- Verify the daily census and prepare/distribute census reports as needed.
- Process admission and discharge records accurately and in a timely manner.
- Provide administrative support to the DON, ADON, and Nursing Department.
- Assist nursing staff and residents as assigned.
- Support special projects and administrative needs of the Nursing Department.
- Assist with resident, family, and visitor needs in a professional and courteous manner.
- Run facility-related errands, including travel to supply sources as needed.
- Maintain accurate and organized transportation and appointment records.
- Assist with resident transportation to appointments when needed.
- CNA-certified employees may be asked to provide floor support during staffing needs or call-outs.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and orderly work area.
Supply & Department Support
- Inventory and stock supplies maintained at nurses' stations and designated supply points.
- Distribute appropriate supplies as needed.
- Assist the Central Supply Director with assigned duties.
- Help maintain organized and adequately stocked nursing department areas.
- Support the Nursing Department with day-to-day administrative activities.
Professional Responsibilities
- Report to work as scheduled and consistently demonstrate dependability and punctuality.
- Work cooperatively with residents, families, representatives, facility staff, physicians, consultants, and ancillary service providers.
- Maintain a professional appearance and appropriate workplace attire.
- Protect resident confidentiality and comply with HIPAA and facility policies regarding Protected Health Information (PHI).
- Properly secure computer workstations when unattended in accordance with facility policy.
- Immediately report suspected or known resident abuse to the Administrator.
- Follow all facility policies, procedures, and applicable regulations.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English and follow oral and written directions necessary to perform the job.
- Strong organizational and attention-to-detail skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Dependable, punctual, and able to manage multiple responsibilities.
- Comfortable working with residents, families, staff, and healthcare professionals.
- CNA certification preferred.
- Ability to assist with resident transportation and obtain/maintain facility driver authorization as required.
