About the role
This role puts you in the room with the business. You'll stand alongside the teams who do the work and identify where AI can genuinely help. Build the solution in partnership with them and stay with it until the solution is implemented and truly being used. Develop solutions that combine traditional machine learning, generative AI, and other tools. The problem comes first, the tooling solutions come second.
This is a hybrid role working partially in-office (Lincoln, NE) and partially from home.
What you do:
- Meet with business teams to learn how they perform their work. Pick the problems worth solving. Agree up front on what a “win” will look like.
- Build a solution to the identified problem. Go from rough prototype to something people can rely on and use. Continue to drive to a finished tool, not just a demo.
- Connect AI to the systems people already use. Allow AI to show up inside their daily tools instead of in a separate instrument nobody opens.
- Put large language models and retrieval-based assistants to work on real workflows while keeping an honest eye on what they cost to run.
- Prototype quickly on new ideas, including agentic approaches. Be straightforward about what's ready for production and what isn't ready yet.
- Maintain good documentation and a trustworthy process: test for fairness, protect sensitive data, document what a model does and where it came from, and leave a clear understandable trail.
- Work across various teams including data scientists, product, IT, and DevOps, while translating between what the business is asking for and what technology can deliver.
- Make adoption part of the job. Train the people who'll use the tool and check back regularly to see whether it’s being utilized.
- Bring what you learn in the field back to the team. Share the patterns that work, retire the ones that don't, and help set technical direction for the future.
What you bring:
- Associate’s degree or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience required.
- Bachelor’s degree desired.
- 0-2+ years of experience with generative AI or machine learning models required.
