Attorney-Advisor (Counsel), CG-0905-15

This position is in the Legal Division, Labor and Employment Field Unit of the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC). The incumbent will be responsible for providing legal counsel on labor and employment laws and regulations, conducting associated investigations, and defending the FDIC in labor arbitration and employment litigation proceedings. Additional selections may be made from this vacancy announcement to fill similar vacancies that occur subsequent to this announcement.

As an Attorney Advisor in the Legal Division, your duties may include: Provides day-to-day legal advice and counsel to management officials on employee and labor relations, equal employment opportunity law and regulations and matters involving corporate operations. Prepares legal briefs, office memoranda and other legal documents on complex, sensitive legal issues, including those involving questions of first impression and with strongly conflicting precedents that require extensive research, analysis and ingenuity to resolve. Represents the Corporation in labor and employment litigaton matters, pending in Federal administrative agencies (e.g., the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), Merit Systems Protection Board (MSPB), Federal Labor Relations Authority (FLRA) , Federal court, as well as in labor arbitrations and mediations. Works closely with paralegals and support staff in the preparation of litigation documents and documentation pertaining to performance and disciplinary issues.
