Maintenance Worker (Seasonal)

This position is located in a National Park Service Unit. Performs simple and routine work involved in the maintenance and repair of grounds, exterior structures, buildings and related utilities, requiring the use of a variety of trade practices associated with occupations such as carpentry, masonry, plumbing, electrical, cement work, painting, and other related trades.

At the full performance level (WG-05) the major duties of this position include, but are not limited to the following: Utilize a variety of materials, tools, and equipment associated with the repair and maintenance of structures and grounds. Perform minor plumbing repairs of limited difficulty such as tightening or replacing in-kind fittings and fixtures. Perform minor carpentry repairs of limited difficulty to buildings and quarters. Construct, install, repair and replace such items as doors, shelves, supply racks, hardware, frame structures, windows, trim and cabinets. Perform routine maintenance at different sites and visitor facilities, to include cleaning restrooms, and making minor repairs as needed. Receive, unload and process incoming shipments according to established procedures, and report discrepancies and damage to others responsible for such items. May perform other duties such as painting, masonry work, roofing, welding, or assisting higher grade workers with maintenance of utility systems in the facility. Operate a light truck to pick up supplies and to transport materials to and from work sites.

Minimum Age Requirement: You must be at least (1)18 years old or (2) at least 16 years old and: (a) Have graduated from high school or been awarded a certificate equivalent to graduating from high school; or (b) Have completed a formal vocational training program; or (c) Have received a statement from school authorities agreeing with their preference for employment rather than continuing their education; or (d) Be currently enrolled in a secondary school and either work only during school vacation periods or work part-time during the school year under a formal student employment program. Age Restriction-MVO: You must be at least 18 years of age or older to operate government vehicles.

There is no substitution of education for experience for Federal Wage System (FWS) positions.
