About the role
Description
The outreach intern will work closely with Tilly Woodward, curator of academic and community outreach, to help develop, implement, and assess public programs and outreach activities for people of all ages on campus and in the community. The intern will help promote and publicize Grinnell College Museum of Art, its exhibitions, collections, and programs on and off campus. This work may involve researching current and upcoming exhibitions, identifying audiences and partners, working with visiting artists and scholars, and assisting with program and event planning, prep, setup, cleanup, and assessment. The intern will work directly with the public. Other tasks may include: taking photos of events, overseeing social media accounts and adding content, designing posters, creating radio sponsorships, and contributing to the museum’s newsletter.
Required Qualifications
Coursework in art history, studio art, or education
Writing skills, with attention to accuracy and details
Organizational skills and the ability to juggle multiple details
Ability to work independently and reliably
Desired Qualifications
Interest in exploring a career in the arts, particularly those addressed in the internship
Experience working with the public (adults or children)
