About the role
The Licensed Practical Nurse, Telehealth Clinical Technician (TCT) provides day-to-day operations under general supervision to ensure Telehealth services are delivered to Veterans within the Salisbury Veterans Health Care System. Locations include Salisbury VA Medical Center (SVAMC), Kernersville/Charlotte Health Care Centers (HCCs) and Community Based Outpatient Clinics (CBOCs). NOTE: The 2-page Resume requirement does not apply to this position.
The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)/TCT) provides safe, timely and individualized nursing care to patients in the Ambulatory Care setting. Interacts and collaborates effectively with patients, families, other health care and supportive personnel. Demonstrates knowledge and ability to provide a full range of practical nursing care to patients with a variety of physical and/or behavioral problems. The LPN/TCT provides day-to-day operations under general supervision (RN or MD) to ensure Telehealth services are delivered to the Veteran at the SVAMC, Kernersville HCC, Charlotte HCC and the Charlotte CBOC while providing a wide range of clinical/technical services to Veterans that demonstrates complex technical judgment. The complexity of duties includes serving as the site imager for Store and Forward Telehealth (SFT) applications, facilitator for real time Clinical Video Telehealth (CVT) encounters and VA Video Connect (VVC) encounters. The TCT is the video teleconferencing system expert at his/her location, assisting OIT with V-Tel equipment installations for clinical use. Other duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following: Serves as a resource and trainer for CVT tele-providers and VVC providers. Be the video teleconferencing system expert, assisting with V-Tel and VVC equipment installations for clinical use. Provide technical support and other program support duties as assigned. Performs Telehealth imaging, including Tele-retinal screening. Conduct Tele- dermatology, Tele-ortho, and Tele-wound care as technology becomes available. Exercises independent technical and/or clinical judgment, possessing and applying comprehensive working knowledge of practical nursing principles. Responsible for oversight of day-to-day operation of clinical video conferencing, training, SFT, and Telehealth clinics. Implements, monitors, and facilitates feedback to the FTC on new clinical Telehealth technologies and programs. Contributes to the development and maintenance of standard operating procedures and facilitate their application at patient and provider locations. Receives all telephone calls and visitors to the clinics. Collaborates with the Registered Nurse (RN) and/or Health Care Provider (HCP). Demonstrates the ability to work independently without the need for immediate supervision. Demonstrates knowledge and skills to carry out a full range of practical nursing care and specialized patient care duties to patients with a variety of physical and/or behavioral problems in the outpatient setting. Assesses data reflective of the patient's status and interprets the information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to their age specific needs and to provide care needed as described in the services' policies and procedures Performs other related duties as listed in functional statement.
