About the role

The Nurse Manager (NM) is a registered professional nurse in the OR/Endoscopy responsible for assessment, planning, provision, and evaluation of nursing services. Assumes responsibility for the coordination of care focused on patient education, self-management, and customer satisfaction throughout the continuum of care.

The Nurse Manager is responsible and accountable for the direction and supervision of specific orientation, training, and development of staff, and evaluation of individual staff performance. Functions or scope of assigned duties include, but are not limited to: Engages in professional organizations to enhance leadership and career growth. Contributes to the development of care delivery models and environmental design, ensuring evidence-based, accessible, affordable, and equitable patient care. Ensures compliance with accreditation and regulatory standards. Aligns nursing/clinical objectives with organizational strategic outcomes, participating in strategy planning and execution. Directs and organizes patient flow in assigned area. Provides care to an array of surgical and medical patients to include: vascular, cardio-thoracic, general, neurosurgery, ophthalmology, cosmetic, gynecology, urology, dental, orthopedic, ENT, plastics, and gastroenterology. Maintains unit schedule and grants leave for staff. Plans, organizes, directs, and controls operations related to Nursing Practice. Assists staff to fulfill performance expectations. Leads interdisciplinary problem-solving at the area and /or program level. Mentors less experienced nurses, other RNs in expanded roles, and/or students. Ensures that, within the scope of duties, confidential information is at all times safeguarded. Uses advanced clinical knowledge and judgment to promote staff involvement in planning, decision-making, and evaluating outcomes.
