About the role

You will serve as a Engineering Equipment Operator (Seasonal) . For more park(s) information, please visit find a park. These positions may be filled for a six month seasonal period, but can be vary due to weather conditions, project needs, or funding. Anticipated Entry on Duty April-May, 2027. Open to the first 200 applicants.

Some of the major duties you will perform include but are not limited to the following: Operates gas or diesel powered engineering and construction equipment with wheeled or crawler-type traction, such as road graders, tractors with bulldozer or angle dozer blades, front-end loaders, backhoes, wheel loaders, trench diggers, and large industrial tractors with pan or scraper attachments. Operates equipment to push, pull, pile, excavate, backfill, grade, or level earth and/or refuse. Uses equipment to perform such functions as cutting, moving, digging, grading, and rolling earth, sand, stone, and other materials to maintain ditches, road shoulders, and beds.

Must be a U.S. Citizen or National. Appointment subject to background investigation and favorable adjudication. Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service. You may be required to wear a uniform and comply with the National Park Service uniform standards. A uniform allowance will be provided. You may be required to work on-call, evenings, weekends, holidays, overtime and/or shift work. You may be required to travel overnight away from home occasionally. You may be required to complete training and obtain/maintain a government charge card with travel and/or purchase authority. You may be required to complete training and operate a four-wheel drive vehicle. If selected for a position/location that requires search and rescue, emergency response, use of firearms, watercraft operation, or commercial driver's license, you will be required to submit to a drug test and receive a negative drug test result prior to appointment. In addition, this position is subject to random testing for illegal drug use. Applicants must be at least 18 years old. For West Glacier, MT: You must possess a Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with Tanker Endorsement. For Estes Park, CO: You must possess a Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with Tanker Endorsement. For Grand Lake, CO and Jensen, UT: You must possess a Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL). For Yellowstone you must possess a Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL).
