As a Supervisory Immigration Services Officer (Field Office Director), you will direct the adjudications and naturalization programs and manage all administrative immigration programs, activities and operations within a USCIS Field Office and represent the Field Office in conferences and meetings.
Organizational Location: This position is located in the Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services, within the Charlotte Field Office and are assigned based on the need of the agency.
Independently manage all operational immigration programs and activities as well as all administrative support functions in a Field Office.
Administer immigration benefits and services including the processing of citizenship applications, family and employment-based petitions and registration.
Safeguard national security in the adjudications of immigration benefits; and ensure the integrity of the immigration system.
Direct the adjudications and naturalization programs and related functions in accordance with broad program objectives and policies established by United States Citizenship and Immigration Services and higher level supervisors.
Plan work to be completed by subordinates, set and adjust short-term priorities, and set target dates for work completion and evaluate and develop performance standards and assess work performance of subordinate supervisors.
Manage oversight for Field Office administrative functions, such as personnel management, labor relations, training, financial management, facilities, property management, health and safety, and emergency preparedness.

Residency Requirement: There is a residency requirement for all applicants not currently employed by U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services. This residency requirement states that candidates must have, for three of the last five years immediately prior to applying for this position; (1) resided in the United States; OR (2) worked for the United States Government as an employee overseas in a Federal or Military capacity, OR (3) been a dependent of a U.S. Federal or Military employee serving overseas. Supervisory/Managerial Probationary Period: You may be required to serve a twelve-month probationary period upon appointment to this position. You may also be required to complete an appropriate supervisory training course within one year of assignment to this position.
EDUCATIONAL SUBSTITUTION: There is no educational substitution at this grade level. If you have not already done so, you will be required to attend the residential, paid FDNS Officer Basic Training course. Additionally, if you have not already done so, you will be required to attend the residential, paid USCIS BASIC Officer training program, lasting six weeks, at a USCIS training facility. Both trainings must be successfully completed according to the standards of the agency. Failure to do so will be grounds for mandatory removal from the position. Such failure will result in either reassignment to a different position, demotion or separation by appropriate procedures. Voluntary Separation Incentive Payment (VSIP): Per 5 CFR 576.202, An employee who receives a Voluntary Separation Incentive Payment (VSIP) and later accepts employment for compensation with the Government of the United States within 5 years of the date of the separation on which the VSIP is based, including work under a personal services contract or other direct contract, must repay the entire amount of the VSIP to the agency that paid it (proof of payment is required) before the individual's first day of reemployment.
