About the role

Position: Director of Slots 

Job Summary:

Responsible for overall administration and financial analysis of the Slot Department in alignment with the mission and objectives of the Casino Del Sol. Responsible for all operational policies and procedures within the Gaming Enterprise.

Duties and Responsibilities (specific areas of responsibility include but are not limited to):

  • Reviews recommendations and suggestions to hire, transfer, suspend, promote, discharge, evaluate, assign, and discipline Slot employees.
  • Reviews and evaluates departmental performance regularly and works with the Director of Gaming Operations to take appropriate steps in resolving unsatisfactory results or conditions
  • Evaluates departmental performance, practices, and structure.
  • Develops and implements departmental policies and procedures.
  • Handles all employee-related matters referred by Slot Managers, ensuring employees are treated and dealt with fairly and equitably.
  • Works with other departments, agencies, and the general public to achieve departmental goals.
  • Communicates effectively with all Slot personnel to achieve project goals and objectives.
  • Ensures compliance with all related regulations.
  • Assesses staff training needs, either provides or ensures provision of training, and determines the effectiveness of training.
  • Performs analyses of activities, costs, operations, and forecast data to determine Slot department and organizational progress toward stated goals and objectives.
  • Gives continuous feedback to Slot Management, ensuring positive reinforcement regarding performance; provides consistent mentoring and coaching; and utilizes progressive discipline, as necessary, within Gaming Enterprise guidelines.
  • Confers with Director of Gaming Operations to review achievements and discuss needed changes in goals or objectives resulting from current or projected future status or conditions.
  • Recommends hiring, disciplinary actions, and termination decisions.
  • Assists the Director of Gaming Operations in monitoring established cost-containment/budgetary controls.
  • Performs project management duties with thoroughness and accuracy, such as

performing needs and cost analyses, establishing project task lists and timelines, and forecasting project completion dates.

  • Promotes open lines of communication with other departments that directly affect the Slot Department; serves as a liaison for the Slot Department.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned. 

Essential functions of the position:

  • Must be able to lift, carry, and move up to fifty (50) pounds, with or without a reasonable accommodation.
  • Must be able to sit, walk, or stand for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to reach above shoulder height, handle, pull, kneel, stoop, squat, grip, crouch, twist, and bend for duties.
  • Must be able to work at and travel to all CDS properties.
  • Must be able to follow both verbal and written directions.
  • Must be able to read, write, and effectively communicate with all guests, team members, and internal/external vendors positively and professionally.
  • Must be able to work in environments with high noise levels, flashing lights, smoking areas, and large crowds.
  • Must be able to work in a high-pressure/fast-paced environment.
  • Must be able to provide/make change, maintain, verify, and balance change banks, and calculate and pay out jackpots to guests.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of local jurisdiction gaming laws (tribal, state, and federal) and attendant regulations as well as the Company’s internal controls, policies and procedures.
  • Knowledge of Slot operations and analysis.
  • Knowledge of general accounting practices and principles.
  • Knowledge of finance and human resources applications within the Slot Department.
  • Strong organizational, planning, and time management skills.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, analytical, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to respond to internal and external inquiries or complaints ranging from guests to regulatory agency representatives.
  • Ability to demonstrate a track record of successes, reliability, responsiveness, and creativity. 
  • Ability to demonstrate a track record of providing excellent customer service.
  • Ability to effectively present information to constituencies ranging from senior management to governmental agency representatives.
  • Ability to provide leadership and develop Team Members. 
  • Ability to communicate and follow directions effectively.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Ten (10) years of casino Slot management experience and at least five (5) years of Director-level or higher experience in Slots.
  • Computer proficiency with word processing and spreadsheet applications.
  • Must have working knowledge of AutoCAD
  • Must be able to work (may require shift changes), weekends, holidays, and special events, as needed.
  • Must be able to successfully pass a pre-employment drug/alcohol screening in accordance with company policy.
  • Must have employment eligibility in the U.S.
  • Must be able to obtain and retain a valid gaming license/background check.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bilingual (English/Spanish).
  • Associate's degree in Business Management or a related field.
