About the role
Required Knowledge and Competencies:
The preferred candidate will demonstrate:
- Strong understanding of low-voltage and structured cabling systems.
- Knowledge of fiber optic and copper cabling infrastructure.
- Knowledge of data center architecture and structured cabling topologies.
- Understanding of pathways, ladder systems, containment, racks, cabinets, and related installation methods.
- Working knowledge of TIA/EIA, BICSI, NEC, and applicable industry standards.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, technical specifications, scopes of work, and related project documentation.
- Experience developing detailed material and labor estimates.
- Experience producing accurate bills of materials and material takeoffs.
- Understanding of inside plant and outside plant cabling systems.
- Experience evaluating installation difficulty, site conditions, productivity factors, and construction impacts.
- Knowledge of unit-cost, fixed-price, and time-and-material pricing models.
- Ability to evaluate margins, overhead, pricing assumptions, and competitive market considerations.
- Experience identifying scope gaps, project risks, and value engineering alternatives.
- Strong written communication skills for RFIs, RFP responses, proposal documentation, and scope narratives.
- Strong analytical and numerical skills.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple estimates and bid deadlines concurrently.
- Ability to work collaboratively across technical, operational, procurement, sales, and project management functions.
