Inspection Leader
Position Summary
The Inspection Leader is responsible for coordinating and supporting daily inspection activities to ensure products meet Schneller and customer quality requirements and are completed safely, accurately, and on time. This position provides day-to-day direction to employees, coordinates inspection priorities with Production and other departments, performs inspection-related activities, maintains required documentation, and supports the Production Supervisor with employee training, performance, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Essential Responsibilities
- Demonstrates Schneller values and promotes a strong commitment to safety, quality, teamwork, and on-time delivery.
- Plans, assigns, coordinates, and monitors daily work within the inspection area, adjusting priorities as needed to meet production and customer requirements.
- Works closely with Production to understand operational needs, prioritize inspections, and communicate changes with supervisors, work centers, and employees.
- Ensures employees follow company safety, quality, production, and inspection procedures and standards.
- Provides training and guidance to employees on inspection procedures, quality requirements, documentation, and related activities.
- Inspects materials for further processing or customer shipment according to applicable specifications and guidelines.
- Ensures products and materials are properly identified and labeled with required Schneller and customer information.
- Supplies submission samples to Sales for customer color approval and to the Test Lab for burn-test approval, ensuring submissions are completed in a timely manner to support on-time delivery.
- Assists Certification Services with FAA-PMA part identification and required documentation, including accurate completion of FAA Form 8130-3 tags in accordance with approved procedures.
- Assists the Quality Assurance Manager and Operations Manager with customer returns and complaints.
- Cuts, identifies, and maintains required retains for Sales and Quality Assurance files, including history, test, and master samples.
- Ensures returned Airbus FAI masters and samples are properly identified and filed promptly upon receipt.
- Maintains organized master and retain storage and filing areas and ensures materials are properly filed and stored according to established requirements.
- Works with the NCR Coordinator to manage the QC hold cage and other designated QC areas, ensuring held materials are dispositioned and removed in a timely manner.
- Ensures labor and material transactions and other required electronic or paper documentation are completed accurately and on time.
- Provides feedback to the Production Supervisor regarding employee performance, training needs, and performance concerns.
- Promotes a positive and productive work environment by setting a professional example and supporting effective team communication.
- Participates in and may lead work-center communication meetings.
- Identifies opportunities to improve safety, quality, efficiency, and processes and assists with continuous improvement initiatives.
- Reports equipment maintenance needs and deviations from Process Engineering Guidelines or processing specifications through established procedures.
- Maintains a clean, safe, and organized work area and addresses or reports safety concerns.
- May safely operate auxiliary equipment associated with the work area, including occasional operation of a powered industrial truck (forklift).
- Maintains required inventory for designated equipment or work areas.
- Meets attendance requirements and performs other duties as assigned by Management.
