Position Overview 

The Human Resources Generalist provides hands-on HR support to employees and leaders across Armstrong. This role focuses on employee relations, recruitment and onboarding, HR administration, and supporting HR programs and initiatives. It is a blend of operational excellence and proactive partnership, ensuring HR practices are consistent, compliant, and aligned with our company values. 

Key Accountabilities 

Employee Lifecycle Management 

  • Serve as the primary contact for employees on HR policies, programs, and inquiries 
  • Coordinate full-cycle recruitment for assigned roles — posting jobs, screening candidates, scheduling interviews, and supporting offer preparation 
  • Facilitate onboarding and orientation to ensure a smooth transition for new employees 
  • Maintain employee records and ensure data accuracy in HRIS systems 

Employee Relations & Support 

  • Provide day-to-day guidance on benefits, employee relations, performance, and workplace matters 
  • Support investigations and assist in implementing corrective actions when necessary 
  • Foster a positive and inclusive work environment aligned with Armstrong’s culture and values 

HR Programs & Administration 

  • Administer and support HR programs such as annual reviews, merit increases, and recognition initiatives 
  • Coordinate benefits enrollment, payroll changes, and leave management in collaboration with the Total Rewards team 
  • Maintain compliance with employment legislation (ADA, FMLA, EEOC, ERISA, OSHA, and so on) 
  • Manage leave administration (Federal and state programs) 
  • Prepare reports and maintain documentation for audits and compliance
     

Training, Development & Engagement 

  • Support implementation of learning and development programs,
    including individual development plans (IDP’s) 
  • Assist with employee engagement surveys, data analysis, and follow-up actions 
  • Help coordinate internal events and communication activities to strengthen culture and engagement 

HR Projects & Continuous Improvement 

  • Participate in HR initiatives such as policy updates, process enhancements, and system improvements 
  • Support change initiatives and workforce planning activities as needed 

Key Skills and Qualifications 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field 
  • 2+ years of progressive HR experience, ideally in a corporate or manufacturing environment. 
  • Working knowledge of US employment laws and HR best practices 
  • Experience with HRIS systems and Microsoft Office Suite 
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills 
  • High attention to detail, confidentiality, and organizational skills
