Motor Vehicle Operator
About the role
This position is located in the Service and Motor Transportation Unit of the Operations Section in the Engineering Service of the Lebanon VA Medical Center, Lebanon, Pennsylvania. The work includes the operation of gasoline, diesel, or electronic powered wheeled vehicles to haul cargo and fuel or to tow or recover equipment. The vehicles are driven in restricted traffic environments on Government installations, over public roads and highways, or under cross-country conditions.
The major duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to: Operating wheeled vehicles, wheel-mounted tractors; or engineering and construction equipment with wheel or crawler-type tractions. Hauling cargo or fuel. Tows/recover equipment. Driving vehicles in restricted traffic environments on government installations, over public roads and highways, or under cross-country conditions. Operating platform, van, stake and dump trucks, which have a gross vehicle weight of 10,000 pounds and up to 26,000 pounds. Some vehicles may be equipped with air brakes. Vehicles are operated over uneven terrain, over improved/unimproved roads and through congested areas. Performing operator maintenance, such as checking fluid levels and air pressure in tires and cleaning and washing vehicles. Performs other related duties.
