As an Supervisory Legal Administrative Specialist, you will share responsibility for the management and technical direction of a USCIS Asylum Office, including preparation, research, resolution and processing in the office's administration of applications for asylum and other benefits.
Serves as an expert consultant on all Asylum Division benefits and screenings administered at the Asylum Office.
Oversees research into and evaluations of pending cases including key system searches across all available USCIS and DHS case management systems.
Supervises Legal Administrative Specialists in the completion of duties in support of the adjudication of benefits and applicant screenings.
Plans work to be accomplished by subordinates, sets and adjusts short-term priorities, and prepares schedules for the completion of work.
Trains and develops expertise among subordinates and assigns work and roles according to team member’s experience and knowledge.

LOCAL COMMUTING AREA: This job is for individuals who currently reside within the local commuting area or, if selected, are willing to establish their permanent residence within the local commuting area of the announced duty location(s) you are applying for. Residency Requirement: There is a residency requirement for all applicants not currently employed by U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services. This residency requirement states that candidates must have, for three of the last five years immediately prior to applying for this position; (1) resided in the United States; OR (2) worked for the United States Government as an employee overseas in a Federal or Military capacity, OR (3) been a dependent of a U.S. Federal or Military employee serving overseas. Supervisory/Managerial Probationary Period: You may be required to serve a twelve-month probationary period upon appointment to this position. You may also be required to complete an appropriate supervisory training course within one year of assignment to this position.
