We’d love to have you join our Press team as a Lead Print Production Technician (Press Operator 3).

What You'll Do

As a Lead Print Production Operator, you'll operate and maintain multi-color offset printing presses while ensuring every job meets the highest quality standards. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Operating and maintaining two-color, four-color, and multi-color offset presses.
  • Producing work involving large solids, screen tints, line work, and halftones requiring critical color accuracy and registration.
  • Reviewing job specifications to ensure proper processing, press setup, and production sequence.
  • Performing complete make-ready procedures, including hanging plates and installing cylinders.
  • Adjusting press tension, register, and other press settings to achieve quality standards.
  • Inspecting printing plates and cylinders for defects before and during production.
  • Making color corrections and press adjustments prior to and throughout production runs.
  • Cleaning, lubricating, and performing routine maintenance on press equipment, including minor repairs and replacing worn components.
  • Maintaining accurate production records and communicating production issues with supervisors.
  • Supporting special projects and performing other related duties as assigned.

What We're Looking For

We're looking for someone who:

  • Can read a tape measure accurately.
  • Performs basic math, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, decimals, and percentages.
  • Can read and interpret job specifications to determine proper press setup and materials.
  • Has strong knowledge of offset press equipment, production processes, and quality standards.
  • Can perform complex mechanical adjustments, press setup, routine maintenance, and minor equipment repairs.
  • Understands press capabilities and selects appropriate settings and materials for each production run.
  • Can accurately use a micrometer to mount and align printing plates.
  • Can read and understand safety procedures, equipment instructions, and mechanical drawings.
  • Communicates effectively in writing with proper grammar, spelling, and organization.
  • Solves practical production problems involving multiple variables.
  • Can interpret written, verbal, diagrammatic, and schedule-based instructions.
  • Works well with others and contributes to a positive team environment.

Bonus Points If You Have

  • Four years of vocational training or related experience in offset printing operations.
  • Extensive experience operating multi-color offset printing presses.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills involving press setup, registration, and color correction.
  • Experience performing press maintenance and mechanical adjustments.

Physical & Work Environment

This is an active manufacturing role that includes:

  • Occasionally lifting and carrying 20–50 pounds.
  • Frequently lifting and carrying 10–20 pounds.
  • Frequent standing, reaching, overhead reaching, handling, and fine finger movements.
  • Occasional walking, stooping, crouching, and other physical movement.
  • Frequent use of near vision, distance vision, depth perception, and color vision for quality control.
  • Frequent operation of equipment requiring precise hand and finger coordination.
  • Working in a very loud manufacturing environment.
  • Occasional exposure to wet or humid conditions and moving mechanical equipment.
  • Constant use of required personal protective equipment (PPE).
