Pay: $28.00–$31.00 per hour, depending on experience.
Schedule: Monday – Friday | Local Work | Home Daily
Lawson Drayage is looking for a Class A Driver/Rigger to join our Nevada Division. This position combines local commercial driving with hands-on rigging and machinery moving. You will work as part of a team to safely load, transport, unload, and relocate customers' machinery, equipment, and materials.
This is a local driving position with no long-haul routes, overnight routes, or extended travel. You’ll be home every night.
What We're Looking For: Someone who has a valid Class A CDL, is dependable, safety-focused, and comfortable with a hands-on position that involves more than driving. Experience with rigging, forklifts, load securement, and machinery moving is preferred, but we provide on-the-job training to help employees develop their skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Communicate with dispatch regarding job requirements and daily assignments.
- Provide dispatch with status updates throughout each job.
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections of tractors and trailers.
- Inspect and prepare loads for safe transportation.
- Determine proper methods for lifting and moving equipment.
- Select and prepare appropriate rigging equipment for assigned projects.
- Load and unload semi-trucks safely.
- Properly strap, tie down, and secure loads using chains, binders, ratchet straps, and other appropriate equipment.
- Determine load weights and identify centers of gravity.
- Safely work with forklifts, jacks, rollers, hoists, and other rigging and material-handling equipment.
- Move equipment and materials to and from work areas.
- Assist with setting, aligning, and positioning machinery and equipment.
- Maintain clean and organized work areas and return tools and equipment to their appropriate locations.
- Communicate professionally with customers and rigging, construction, engineering, and other on-site teams.
- Inspect equipment and report any safety or maintenance concerns.
- Follow company, state, and federal safety requirements.
- Complete and maintain required safety training.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Valid Class A CDL.
- CDL must not have an automatic-transmission-only restriction (E restriction).
- Ability to safely operate a commercial vehicle.
- Ability to inspect and prepare loads for safe transportation.
- Ability to perform an active, hands-on position in addition to driving responsibilities.
- Ability to follow safety procedures and instructions.
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
- Dependable, professional, and safety-focused.
- Strong work ethic and ability to work effectively as part of the team.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous commercial driving experience.
- Previous rigging or machinery-moving experience.
- Experience with load tie-down and securement, including ratchet straps, chains, and binders.
- Forklift experience and/or ability to become forklift certified.
- Experience transporting materials or equipment of varying sizes and weights.
- Familiarity with rigging equipment and machinery-moving practices.
- Familiarity with logistics or the machinery-moving industry.
*Prior rigging and machinery-moving experience is helpful but not required. Lawson provides hands-on training and opportunities to develop additional skills within the trade.*
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to [Confirm Weight].
- Ability to perform physical, hands-on work in addition to driving.
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Ability to frequently bend, stoop, kneel, squat, reach, and twist.
- Ability to safely operate forklifts and other material-handling equipment as trained and authorized.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Ability to perform an active role requiring frequent physical movement.
Compensation & Benefits
Pay: $28.00–$31.00 per hour, depending on experience.
