About the role

You will serve as a Supervisory Management and Program Analyst with the Executive Secretariat & Regulatory Affairs, Office of the Secretary of Interior. The Department of the Interior is devoted to protecting and preserving the natural resources of this great nation, including National Parks, Landmarks, and the well-being of communities, including those of Native American, Alaska Natives and affiliated Islanders.

This is a Schedule Policy/Career position. Some of the major duties you will perform include but are not limited to the following: Provides leadership and management for the Department's regulatory and policy management activities Maintains oversight for programs and projects to ensure adequate and timely accomplishment, adherence to established policies and initiates corrective action as required. Guides the development of strategic planning for Departmental functions related to regulatory affairs and policy management. Advises senior Department officials in the development of regulations and policies. Manages the Departmental regulatory relationship with OMB, the Executive Office of the President, the Federal Register, and other agencies. Provides supervision to the regulatory affairs and policy management staff.

Merit Systems Protection Board(MSPB) appeals of adverse actions concerning performance, discipline, and other matters arising under chapters 23, 43, and 75 of title 5, United States Code will not be available to an individual serving in this position. Prohibitions on prohibited personnel practices will be enforced by the Office of General Counsel [or agency equivalent position] and not the Office of Special Counsel. As a condition of employment for accepting this position, you may be required to serve a probationary/trial period to evaluate your fitness and whether your continuation of employment advances the public interest. This period is an extension of the appointment process and therefore requires the agency to determine if continued employment would advance the public interest, meet the organization goals and mission of the agency, and/or otherwise promote the efficiency of the service. In determining if your employment advances the public interest, the agency will consider: your performance and conduct; the needs and interests of the agency; whether your continued employment would advance organizational goals of the agency or the Government; and whether your continued employment would advance the efficiency of the Federal service.
