Requirements
Responsibilities:
- Patient Assessment: Conduct preoperative assessments, review patient histories, and verify necessary documentation and consent.
- Operating Room Preparation: Ensure the operating room is properly set up, including arranging surgical instruments, supplies, and equipment.
- Patient Positioning: Assist with positioning the patient safely and comfortably on the operating table.
- Sterile Environment Maintenance: Monitor and maintain a sterile field, ensuring adherence to aseptic techniques and infection control protocols.
- Intraoperative Support: Provide support to the surgical team by managing the flow of the procedure, documenting operative details, and responding to the needs of the surgical team.
- Supply Management: Ensure availability of necessary supplies and equipment, anticipating the needs of the surgical team.
- Patient Advocacy: Act as a patient advocate, ensuring patient safety and comfort throughout the surgical procedure.
- Communication: Coordinate and communicate with the surgical team, anesthesia team, and other healthcare professionals.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate and detailed patient records, including surgical notes, times, counts, and specimens.
- Postoperative Care: Assist with the transfer of patients to the recovery room and provide postoperative instructions as needed.
- Compliance: Adhere to all hospital policies, procedures, and regulations, as well as state and federal guidelines.
Qualifications:
- Education: Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
- Licensure: Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Kansas
- Experience: Previous experience in the operating room or perioperative setting preferred.
- Certifications: BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required; ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certification preferred.
- Skills: Strong clinical skills, excellent communication and interpersonal abilities, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a high-stress environment.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift and move patients and surgical equipment as necessary.
- Prolonged periods of standing and walking.
- Ability to handle physical and emotional stress.
