Sheet Metal Mechanic

About the Position: Red River Army Depot (RRAD) is located in northeast Texas, 19 miles west of Texarkana and approximately 170 miles northeast of Dallas. RRAD is near the corners of 4 states - Arkansas, Louisiana, Oklahoma and Texas. The depot's enormous maintenance mission includes the repair, rebuild, overhaul and conversion of tactical wheeled vehicles. Fabricate door frames and covers with sheet metal.

Assemble and set up parts to be welded for repair or maintenance.

Apply shop mathematics to determine dimensions and figure irregular curves, angles and pitch.

Determine welding techniques and machine settings to be utilized for maintenance and repairs.

Utilize soldering, spot welding, electric welding or acetylene welding to assemble fabricated parts.

Utilize blueprints, work orders and specifications to perform maintenance, fabrication or repairs on sheet metal projects.

Devise templates and patterns having curved edges or irregular shapes for the purpose of constructing and assembling objects.
