About the role

Integrated Operations Division (IOD) coordinates, collaborates, and executes CISA's operational activities to ensure seamless support and expedited response to critical needs. IOD enhances mission effectiveness and situational awareness by unifying the conduct and reporting of CISA operations through a single channel. The official title of this position is Telecommunications Specialist, GS-0391-14.

Typical work assignments include, but are not limited to: Developing cyberspace plans, strategy and policy to support and align with organizational cyberspace missions and initiatives. Providing knowledge of network security methodologies and advises on ways to strengthen interoperability at all levels. Coordinating with CISA, Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), and the Office of Interoperability and Compatibility (OIC), to establish requirements for secure and interoperable emergency communications capabilities. Establishing and maintaining communication channels with stakeholders. Directing technical assistance supporting the development, promulgation, implementation, and coordination of national voluntary consensus standards for interoperable communication equipment as well as interoperable communications and cybersecurity requirements for voice and data communications systems and equipment.

Failure to report for or remain in this position may result in disciplinary or adverse action in accordance with applicable laws, rules, and regulations (5 U.S.C. 7501-7533 and 5 CFR Part 752, as applicable). This position requires a pre-employment drug test. All applicants tentatively selected for this position will be required to submit to a drug test to screen for illicit/illegal drug use prior to receiving a final offer of employment. A final offer of employment is contingent upon a negative drug test result. The selectee must possess and maintain a valid state driver's license. This is a mobile work position. Due to frequent travel requirements, selectee must reside within the area of responsibility identified in the announcement. Locality pay will be based on the duty location.
