POSITION SUMMARY                                                                                                      

Spicer Group is seeking an accomplished and relationship-driven Client Development Specialist III to support the growth of our Drinking Water & Wastewater Service Line. In this senior client development role, you will cultivate trusted partnerships with municipal and utility clients, identify emerging infrastructure needs, and connect clients with practical, sustainable solutions that protect public health, strengthen communities, and support long-term system reliability.

The ideal candidate brings a strong understanding of the drinking water and wastewater market, a proven ability to develop and expand client relationships, and the strategic insight to turn market intelligence into meaningful opportunities. Working closely with technical, project management, and marketing teams, you will help shape account strategies, lead targeted engagement efforts, support high-value pursuits, and position Spicer Group as a trusted partner throughout the full lifecycle of our clients’ water and wastewater infrastructure needs.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES


Client Strategy and Engagement

  • Serves as a trusted advisor and primary point of contact for key municipal drinking water and wastewater clients and strategic partners throughout the Northeast Michigan market
  • Directs the development and execution of strategic client account plans, partnering with Drinking Water / Wastewater project teams to align client development goals with municipal infrastructure needs, capital priorities, and funding opportunities
  • Champions opportunities to cross-sell complementary services and expand existing drinking water and wastewater client relationships across service lines and the Northeast Michigan market
  • Leads engagement with strategic target clients and key stakeholders across Northeast Michigan to strengthen Spicer Group’s presence in the drinking water and wastewater market

Opportunity Identification and Development

  • Leads strategic market intelligence efforts by monitoring Northeast Michigan drinking water and wastewater trends, regulatory priorities, funding programs, utility needs, and municipal capital improvement plans to identify opportunities aligned with the firm’s growth strategy
  • Influences go/no-go evaluations and contributes client intelligence and market insight to pursuit strategies for high-value drinking water and wastewater projects and strategic municipal clients
  • Represents the firm at regional industry events, conferences, association meetings, and client meetings to promote Drinking Water / Wastewater services, strengthen market visibility, and generate qualified leads in Northeast Michigan

Proposal and Pursuit Leadership

  • Partners with Marketing and Drinking Water / Wastewater technical teams to assist in developing compelling proposals, presentations, and qualification packages tailored to Northeast Michigan municipal and utility clients
  • Develops customized messaging and value propositions based on client intelligence, drinking water and wastewater project goals, local market drivers, and the competitive landscape
  • Participates in interview preparation and strategy sessions for major Drinking Water / Wastewater pursuits, helping teams demonstrate client understanding, regional knowledge, and differentiated value

Reporting and CRM Management

  • Maintains accurate and up-to-date CRM records of Northeast Michigan client interactions, municipal and utility leads, account activity, and Drinking Water / Wastewater pursuits
  • Tracks KPIs and performance metrics for Northeast Michigan client development activities, relationship growth, pipeline development, and Drinking Water / Wastewater pursuits, and contributes to quarterly reporting

Physical presence is an essential function of this role. This position requires travel to client offices, industry events, and firm locations. Flexibility for evening networking or client events is expected. The omission of a specific duty or responsibility does not preclude assigning duties not listed herein if such duties and responsibilities are a reasonable assignment to the position.


POSITION REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelors degree in Business, Marketing, Communications, Engineering, Surveying, or a related field
  • Proven track record of cultivating and managing long-term client relationships that result in measurable business growth
  • Exceptional communication, negotiation, and presentation skills
  • Strong knowledge of AEC markets, procurement processes, and client drivers
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to work independently and lead complex initiatives with multiple stakeholders
