The primary purpose of this position is to assist with fraud investigations and provide administrative support to the Special Investigators on the SIU team, while maintaining the highest level of confidentiality in all matters at all times.

Specific Duties and Activities

Description

% of Time Spent

·         FRAUD INVESTIGATION

·         Collaborate with Special Investigators to evaluate fraud referrals.

·         Conduct investigative research to assess merits of allegations through fact-gathering.

·         Utilize open source databases to run background searches. Compile information received into a concise report.

·         Utilize social media and other electronic research tools to gather facts. Compile information found into a concise report.

·         Organize and document all findings with a high level of detail and accuracy. Note patterns of suspicious behavior.

·         Report discoveries to Special Investigators.

·         Collaborate with Adjusters for additional information as needed and follow-up on fact findings.

·         Ensure industry best practices are followed and information gathered is court defensible.

·         Research, monitor, and remain current on various social media platforms and updated regulations regarding preservation of social media data.

·         Assist in creating and maintaining all SIU departmental procedures.

·         Assist with special projects and other duties as assigned.

Minimum Experience and Education Required

High school diploma or equivalent required; additional education preferred. Courses in office practice, business, criminal justice helpful. Experience in SIU, legal, or insurance industry a plus.

·         Knowledge of or ability to learn SIU process and procedures.

·         Ability and drive to investigate and search for pertinent information to problem solve.

·         Ability to gather facts, compile and analyze data.

·         Knowledge of or ability to learn legal processes and procedures and state fraud laws.

·         Ability to maintain a high level of accuracy and confidentiality.

·         Ability to prioritize and handle fluctuating workloads.

·         Above average organizational and time management skills. Willing and able to handle multiple tasks and priorities, flexible and adaptable.

·         Ability to work both as a team member and individual contributor.

·         Ability to work under pressure and be self-motivated by deadlines.

·         Thorough knowledge of personal computers, Microsoft Office, database software systems, and social media platforms.

·         Above average interpersonal communication skills; both verbal and written.
