Security Specialist

This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. About the Position: This position is with the U.S. Army Engineer Research and Development Center (ERDC), Security Office. This position is being filled as a Security Specialist DJ-02 (GS 5-10)

Support the Security Manager who is responsible for implementing a comprehensive protection program.

Conduct all security related training, administration, and inspections for the Engineer Research and Development Center (ERDC).

Monitor the manner in which sensitive material is handled and used; recommend appropriate corrective action where security requirements are not being observed.

Coordinate with scientific, technical, and other subject-matter specialists to assess risk of loss, value of loss, and the classification level appropriate to information sensitivity.

Utilizes and complies with OSHA safety and Personal Protective Equipment requirements.

Implement policies, instructions, procedures, control systems, and methods for personnel access controls and physical storage and control.

Perform daily security discipline activities including security briefings, indoctrinations, debriefings, and training/refresher training and Security, Education and Training Awareness.

FOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
