About the role

Purpose of Position: The Technical Support Paint Technician is responsible for supporting the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of paint systems and related equipment. This position performs preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, repairs, and technical support to minimize equipment downtime and ensure paint system performance meets production requirements.

Essential Job Functions

  • Perform maintenance, troubleshooting, and rebuilds of paint guns and spray equipment.
  • Perform preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on Regenerative Thermal Oxidizer (RTO) systems.
  • Support daily production startup activities to identify and resolve equipment issues and prevent production downtime.
  • Perform preventive maintenance and repairs on paint system equipment, including pit pumps, pig-able systems, mix room pumps, robots, and related equipment.
  • Complete scheduled paint system and RTO preventive maintenance activities and accurately document work in the MaintainX system.
  • Monitor paint waste and assist with identifying opportunities to reduce waste and improve system efficiency.
  • Provide support for PLC troubleshooting and basic controls-related issues.
  • Troubleshoot and repair paint conveyor equipment and related mechanical issues.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area while following all applicable safety procedures and company policies.
  • Follow Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures and other established safety requirements when performing maintenance activities.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Experience and Knowledge

  • Basic welding and electrical experience/knowledge.
  • Forklift operation experience or the ability to become certified.
  • Working knowledge of Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and repair minor issues with standard spray guns and bell guns.
  • Basic knowledge of FANUC robots, including routine maintenance and preventive maintenance.
  • Basic understanding of PLCs and ability to assist with troubleshooting.
  • Knowledge of mechanical maintenance and industrial equipment is preferred.
  • Previous experience in a manufacturing or automotive paint environment is preferred.

  • Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to work with a variety of industrial equipment.
  • Effective troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to analyze equipment issues, make sound decisions, and implement appropriate solutions.
  • Basic computer skills, including the ability to enter and maintain maintenance records.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to equipment reliability and quality.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and respond effectively to production and equipment needs.
