Job Summary (outline in one to three sentences the overall responsibilities of the role):  

The Motorsports Business Intelligence Analyst serves as the division’s fact base and insight engine, transforming fragmented market, customer, competitive, industry, and internal business data into forward-looking intelligence. The role identifies emerging trends, opportunities, risks, and possible future business environments to support Yamaha Motorsports’ 10-years strategy and portfolio decisions. The Analyst primarily owns the data to intelligence to insight stages and partners with strategy leaders to translate findings into strategic choices and actions.

Market & Industry Intelligence: Track and analyze market size, demand, volume, share, category and regional trends, industry structure, adjacent categories, technology developments, economic, demographic, lifestyle, and societal forces. Translate external signals into implications for the next 5-10 years.

Industry & Demand Forecasting: Develop and maintain transparent, evidence-based long-term market and demand outlooks, including baseline forecasts, alternative scenarios, key assumptions, leading indicators, and potential strategic implications. Quantify possible future business environments rather than presenting a single-point prediction.

Competitive Business Intelligence: Monitor and assess established and emerging competitors across corporate direction, portfolios, product launches, pricing, features, technology, accessories, financing, connectivity, positioning, customer experience, and partnerships. Connect competitor action to customer response, market implications, and strategic implications for Yamaha.

Business Performances Analytics: Analyze actual vs. plan, historical performance, market share, category and segment results, pricing, retail, dealer inventory, and key business drivers. Establish the fact-based baseline for strategy and identify changes, root causes, risks, and opportunities.

Insight Generation & Strategic Implications: Connect multiple quantitative and qualitative sources to identify patterns, relationships, gaps, opportunities, and risks. Move analysis from what happened to why it happened, what may happen next, and what it could mean for Yamaha’s motorsports portfolio over a 5-10 years horizon.

Insight Generation & Strategic Implications: Connect multiple quantitative and qualitative sources to identify patterns, relationships, gaps, opportunities, and risks. Move analysis from what happened to why it happened, what may happen next, and what it could mean for Yamaha’s motorsports portfolio over a 5-10 years horizon.

Economic & Regulatory Monitoring: Assess changes in economic conditions, tariffs, fuel prices, interest rates, and relevant regulations that may affect market demand, industry structure, or competitive activity.

Strategic Insight & Cross-Functional Support: Translate research and analysis into clear implications and recommendations, partnering with Business Management, Product Planning, Sales, Marketing, Operations, FP&A, and other stakeholders.

Cross-Functional Intelligence Support: Partner with Business Management, Product Planning, Research, Finance, Sales, Marketing YMUS Corporate, YMC, and other stakeholders to align definitions and assumptions, validate findings, and improve the use of intelligence in planning in planning and decision-making.

Minimum Qualifications: (List minimum experience, education, work experience and/or certifications required to perform the role first, followed by preferred qualifications) 

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Economics, Finance, Marketing, Statistics, Data Analytics, Market Research, or a related field required. 
• 3+ years of experience in business intelligence, market analysis, forecasting, strategy, analytics, or a related discipline. 
• Demonstrated experience conducting trend analysis, building or supporting industry and demand forecasts, and analyzing market share and competitive performance. 
• Experience benchmarking products and technologies, assessing competitor companies, and monitoring industry, economic, or regulatory developments. 
• Experience in motorsports, automotive, powersports, consumer products, or related business preferred. 

Competencies/ Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:  (Attributes required to perform the job adequately, i.e. SAP knowledge, outstanding written and oral communication skills, ability to operate forklift, etc.) 

Trend Analysis & Foresight 

• Ability to distinguish and connect mega, macro, and micro trends and assess their potential impact on markets, customers, competitors, and business performance. 

• Strong ability to synthesize complex external and internal information into clear business implications. 

Forecasting & Market Analysis 

• Knowledge of industry and demand forecasting, market sizing, market-share analysis, segment analysis, and business-performance measurement. 

• Ability to evaluate sales, pricing, retail and wholesale, dealer inventory, economic, and other market indicators with accuracy and sound judgment. 

Competitive Intelligence 

• Experience with competitor benchmarking, product and technology comparisons, pricing and positioning analysis, competitor company assessments, and competitive-landscape monitoring. 

• Ability to identify meaningful competitive signals across established competitors, emerging entrants, patents, regulations, and industry developments. 

Communication & Collaboration 

• Ability to convert analysis into concise market outlooks, trend updates, deep-dive reports, dashboards, presentations, and actionable recommendations. 

• Strong written, verbal, and cross-functional collaboration skills. 

Technical Skills 

• Advanced proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint; experience with Power BI, Tableau, or similar visualization tools preferred. 

• Experience with market, economic, industry, product, pricing, patent, or competitive-intelligence data sources preferred. 

Decision-Making Responsibility / Organizational Scope 
Operates as an individual contributor under the direction of the Manager, Motorsports Business Intelligence. Independently conducts assigned trend, forecast, market, and competitive analyses; selects and validates appropriate sources and methods; and recommends interpretations based on available evidence. Material changes to forecasts, core assumptions, or strategic recommendations are reviewed through established management and governance processes.
