Role Overview

Are you highly detailed, energized by organizing and improving processes, and at your best on a team that depends on each other? Do you enjoy understanding how systems work and how they talk to one another? The Associate, Master Data owns the set up and ongoing maintenance of customer accounts and supplier accounts, working across many levels of the organization to keep our master data accurate, compliant, and usable.

The day-to-day role includes updating data with a high degree of accuracy. You will serve as a hands-on resource for ARS and OBS transactions, help resolve the requests that do not follow the standard path, and carry improvement ideas through completion rather than handing them off. You will cross-train, cover for teammates as needed, and work with the team to find efficiencies in existing processes. The position reports to the Manager, Master Data and calls for a natural drive for continuous improvement, the ability to prioritize on the fly, and a positive, collaborative attitude.

Key Accountabilities

  • Process new account setup and account maintenance requests in ARS, OBS & JDE accurately and within service expectations, including pricing multipliers, tax rates, promotions, fuel surcharge, and rep and address maintenance.
  • Track, coordinate, and update the status of research and setup requests through to completion, following up on the items that stall rather than waiting for them to resolve themselves.
  • Ensure accurate approval levels are met according to SOX guidelines and that all customer documentation complies with SOX and good business practices.
  • Serve as a first point of reference for teammates on ARS, OBS and JDE Customer Master questions, and help troubleshoot requests that do not follow the standard path.
  • Create and update documentation of customer master processes so the team works from a current, shared standard.
  • Research potential customers using Secretary of State websites and other verification sources.
  • Identify process improvements, propose them, and see the agreed changes through implementation, including training teammates on what changed.

Characteristics and Attributes

  • A genuine team player who shares knowledge freely, covers for others without being asked, and helps newer associates get up to speed.
  • A willingness to learn: curious about how ARS, OBS, and connected systems interact, and quick to pick up new tools and process changes.
  • Drives work to completion, taking ownership of open items and closing them out rather than passing them along.
  • Positive, inclusive, and continuous improvement-oriented attitude.
  • Effective verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills that support cross-functional and vendor collaboration, problem solving, and execution.
  • A keen eye for detail with strong analytical skills and the ability to shape complex data into meaningful operational analysis.
  • Thrives in a fast-paced, continuous improvement environment and stays highly organized across a diverse spectrum of tasks.

Qualifications

  • Working knowledge of ARS and OBS, with hands-on experience creating and maintaining customer or supplier accounts in those systems.
  • Two or more years of master data, account setup, customer service, or related transactional experience preferred.
  • Associate's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or equivalent work experience preferred.
  • Detail-oriented and consistently accurate with repetitive tasks, with a strong service mentality toward internal and external customers.
  • Proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook) and comfort working in databases; advanced Excel skills preferred.
  • Able to prioritize and work independently with little supervision, and flexible about changing processes to adapt to new business strategies.
