About the role

Primary Purpose
Executes corrosion monitoring and maintenance activities to protect infrastructure from degradation. Ensures accurate data reporting and applies standard mitigation techniques to support safe and efficient operations.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Conducts field inspections and testing of underground infrastructure to ensure proper operation and protection against environmental factors.
  • Analyzes field data and prepares reports on infrastructure condition, including assessments of corrosion protection and recommendations for corrective actions.
  • Applies corrosion mitigation measures such as cleaning, scraping, chemical injection, corrosion coupons, or coating application.
  • Performs installation, maintenance, and operation of cathodic protection systems to ensure effective corrosion control of underground infrastructure.
  • Conducts studies to identify corrosion risks and recommend strategies that improve facility performance and reliability.
  • Assists in corrosion management efforts for multi-jurisdictional assets.
  • Implements recommendations to monitor, inspect, and mitigate corrosion to maintain acceptable control levels.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Education
  • Required: Typically requires a 4 year degree in a relevant field, or equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.
Experience
  • Required: Typically requires 2 years of related experience.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Required: Ability to apply judgment when selecting standard corrosion control solutions.
  • Required: Ability to collaborate with technical staff and field personnel on corrosion issues.
  • Required: Ability to perform corrosion monitoring activities using established techniques.
  • Required: Knowledge of applicable industry codes, standards, and internal specifications.
  • Required: Knowledge of common corrosion mitigation methods used in utility and pipeline environments.
  • Required: Skill in analyzing routine corrosion data to identify expected trends or anomalies.
  • Required: Skill in preparing clear technical documentation and summaries.
