Quality Team Lead
Job Overview:
A Quality Team Lead for Toyota Automated Logistics is responsible for leading daily quality activities within the manufacturing and assembly environment while maintaining hands-on technical expertise. This role performs the technical responsibilities of a Quality Technician, including quality inspection, problem solving, root cause analysis, quality system adherence, and continuous improvement, while also leading the Quality team to achieve safety, quality, delivery, and customer expectations.
The Quality Team Lead serves as the primary point of contact for quality execution, training, problem solving, and escalation within their assigned area. This position ensures that completed assemblies, manufactured parts, and supplied parts meet established quality requirements and that quality processes are executed consistently and in accordance with the Quality Management System and ISO 9001:2015 requirements.
Shift:
- 1st Shift: Monday – Friday (6:00 AM – 2:30 PM)
Job Functions:
- Support daily quality activities across assigned manufacturing, assembly, and production areas.
- Lead and coordinate daily priorities and workflow for Quality Technicians within the assigned area.
- Serve as a hands-on technical resource for quality inspection, troubleshooting, and problem solving.
- Ensure completed assemblies, manufactured parts, and supplied parts meet applicable drawings, specifications, and quality standards.
- Identify and resolve fit, finish, appearance, dimensional, and functional quality concerns.
- Lead problem-solving activities including containment, root cause analysis, corrective actions, and sustainable countermeasures.
- Monitor quality KPIs and utilize data to identify trends, risks, and improvement opportunities.
- Communicate quality priorities, concerns, performance, and escalations to the team and appropriate cross-functional partners.
- Provide training, coaching, and technical guidance to Quality Technicians.
- Ensure consistent execution of inspection processes, quality standards, and established standard work.
- Develop and improve quality standard work and quality processes as necessary.
- Support continual development and adherence to the Quality Management System in accordance with ISO 9001:2015.
- Manage quality-related change points with suppliers, Manufacturing, Engineering, Design, and other applicable departments.
- Coordinate with internal departments and external suppliers to investigate and resolve quality concerns.
- Support supplier quality and process improvement activities.
- Ensure quality issues, corrective actions, and countermeasures are properly documented, communicated, and followed through to completion.
- Identify and communicate opportunities for process, inspection, tooling, and quality system improvements.
- Participate in Kaizen and continuous improvement activities.
- Promote consistent quality expectations, safe work practices, and effective communication throughout manufacturing operations.
Travel Requirements:
- No travel required for this role.
Required Qualifications and Preferred Skills:
- High School Diploma or GED required; Associate Degree or higher in Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, or a related technical field preferred.
- 5+ years of quality, manufacturing, inspection, or related technical experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
- Experience working within manufacturing and/or assembly environments such as fabrication, metal forming, paint, mechanical assembly, or similar processes.
- Experience with quality inspection of completed assemblies, manufactured parts, and/or supplied parts.
- Proven experience in leadership, training, mentoring, or providing technical direction within a manufacturing environment.
- Strong understanding of root cause analysis, corrective action, problem solving, and continuous improvement principles.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and quality requirements.
- Experience developing and maintaining quality standard work and inspection processes.
- Working knowledge of Quality Management Systems and ISO 9001:2015 requirements.
- Experience utilizing quality data and KPIs to identify trends and improvement opportunities.
- Experience with supplier quality and process improvement preferred.
- Strong communication, organizational, and team leadership skills.
- Results-driven with strong analytical and problem-solving ability.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
- Experience with Toyota Quality Systems, including QIMS and SQAM, preferred.
- Must be eligible to work in the USA long term without sponsorship.
