About the role

The Data Manager is the business owner and guardian of data meaning and quality within the function.


The role ensures that data used for reporting and AI decisions is defined, validated, compliant, and fit for purpose.

Main responsibilities:

  • Produce and maintain approved business data definitions and rules for the function
  • Validate data readiness and quality for priority AI and reporting use cases
  • Ensure alignment between business meaning and data usage
  • Ensure compliance with internal data policies and regulations from a business perspective
  • Identify and escalate data issues that block AI use cases or decision‑making
  • Act as the main business point of contact for data topics

What this role is not:

  • Not data engineering or technical role
  • Does not build data pipelines or platforms

Profile:

  • Strong domain knowledge and understanding of business KPIs
  • Experience with reporting, data usage, or operational performance
  • Ability to document business rules clearly and consistently

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, information systems, data/analytics, engineering, finance, supply chain, operations, or related field, or equivalent experience
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in business data management, data governance, reporting governance, or operational performance roles
  • Demonstrated ability to define business data meaning, ownership, quality rules, and usage standards across a function
  • Experience resolving data issues impacting business performance or decision making, including cross-functional coordination
  • Ability to translate business requirements into clear data definitions, controls, and readiness criteria for reporting, analytics, and AI use cases
  • Strong stakeholder management and escalation capabilities in global or matrixed environments

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree or certification in data governance, analytics, or data management disciplines preferred
  • Experience implementing or operating within data governance frameworks, stewardship models, or master data practices
  • Experience supporting AI, automation, or advanced analytics initiatives from a business data readiness perspective
  • Familiarity with data compliance, privacy, regulatory, or internal control expectations
  • Experience aligning data definitions across regions, brands, or functions
