About the role

This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) & eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after review of the EDRP application. Former EDRP participants ineligible to apply.

VA offers a comprehensive total rewards package. Duties include but are not limited to: Functions under the general direction of the Chief, Dental Service. The Staff Dentist independently examines, diagnoses, and treats the commonly encountered dental diseases or dental health problems, requiring opinion or intervention, in the outpatient and inpatient settings, including emergent evaluations. Occasionally, he/she independently treats patients having dental health problems of greater than usual difficulty. Obtains patient's history, records oral conditions and patient's complaints, and records progress. In accordance with specific instruction, performs record keeping, records patient's medical and dental history and use of medications, prepares and records patient's treatment plans. Performing oral and radiographic examinations of the oral cavity, and diagnosis of pathological or irregular conditions. Treating oral mucosal and gingival infections. Administering local anesthesia. Performing single and relatively uncomplicated multiple extractions of teeth. To the extent of ability and experience, the staff dentist may perform difficult oral surgery such as extraction of an impacted tooth or perform alveolectomy in connection with fitting of a denture or other appliance. Participates in Dental Service Staff meetings and Process Improvement activities. Assist and management of community care treatment reviews and authorizations.
