About the role

Position: Process Trainer - FB Injection K Shift Friday-Sunday 7P-3A

Job Purpose:

Process trainers provide training to certify, recertify and cross train the workforce in technical skills required to safely produce our products. They enable a rapid transition from conceptual to applied workforce-wide process improvement. Their contribution is critical to meeting Safety Policy, AS9100 Standards and Quality Manual requirements. They are key team members to preserve and grow the workforce to keep Albany Engineered Composites competitive today and long into the future.

  • Be a process safety role model
  • Follow all publicized safety policies/procedures and WIs applicable to the job.
  • Use appropriate PPE that has been identified on the Hazard Analysis for the department/role.
  • Attend and participate in all safety training, safety meetings, audits and Behavior Based Safety programs assigned.
  • Report all safety hazards observed.  If capable, correct the safety hazard identified.
  • Train new and senior operators with WIs and checklists to help them certify as quickly as possible.
  • Provide initial evaluation and feedback comments to PTL/VSL on employees in certification process
  • Be a role model for procedural adherence, follow and refer to the WI and policies
  • Be respectful and a teamwork champion on the floor
  • Participate proactively in coaching and training from the Training Manager and Manufacturing Engineer
  • Support technical staff to write WIs
  • Support Manufacturing Engineer to review WIs
  • Perform WI audits for procedural accuracy and compliance for three possible outcomes
    • Everything is ok – keep moving forward with the same procedures and behaviors
    • Operator needs corrective or additional training or PTL/VSL intervention
    • WI needs updating by manufacturing engineering team, possible JOB Methods
  • Participate in the checklist review process
  • Support Manufacturing Engineer or equivalent to write technical OPLs
  • Get involved in process improvement projects
  • Initiate ECR
  • Function as a Manufacturing Technician when not training

Supervisory Responsibility: No

Qualifications/Characteristics:

  • Respect for safety and procedural adherence
  • High level of demonstrated competence and confidence with manufacturing process including machinery and equipment they are teaching
  • Good knowledge and respect of Albany Engineered Composites core values and culture
  • Good knowledge of our products and Lean manufacturing
  • Ability to work with Training Manager and Manufacturing Engineers to deliver meaningful training lessons
  • Desire and ability to work with, teach and coach employees
  • Patience with people that learn at different rates than themselves
  • Possess strong verbal and non-verbal communication skills
  • Be a good listener
  • Possess planning, organization and problem-solving skills
  • Possess initiative, and internally motivated to do well

  • 1+ years of experience in the process area
  • Successfully complete the local process trainer certification process

Working Conditions:

Indoor production environment, adequate lighting and comfortable temperatures.  Occasional exposure to moderate noise and machinery with mechanical moving parts.  Ability to work 24/7 schedule and be available as business situations required, overtime dependent on business need.

Physical requirements:

Frequently positions sheets of material onto molds and/or manually sands parts, etc…

Frequent repetitive hand movements, use of hand tools – pliers, sanders, scissors, etc… 

Frequently remain in a stationary position up to 75% of the time

Must be able to detect and recognize visual differences between materials or parts, etc…

Frequently moves molds and parts >25 lbs between work tables and carts
