Lock and Dam Repairer Leader

About the Position: This position is for a Lock and Dam Repairer Leader, WL-5318-10, at the Illinois Waterway Project, Maintenance Section, located in Peoria, Illinois.

Pass on to other workers, instructions received from supervisor and starts work (e.g., by assigning the immediate tasks to be performed by individual members of the group led).

Ensure that needed plans, blueprints, material, and tools are available, and that needed stock is obtained from supply locations.

Check work in-progress and when finished; check for compliance with supervisor's instructions on work sequence, deadlines; demonstrate proper work methods.

Answer workers questions regarding procedures, policies, written instructions, and other directives (e.g., technical orders).

Obtain needed information or decisions from the supervisor on problems that come about while performing the work.

Provide information to supervisor on status and progress of work, causes of delays, and overall work operations and problems (e.g., additional on-the-job training requirements for individual employees).

Assure that safety and housekeeping rules are followed (e.g., assures that machine capacities are not exceeded and that tools are properly used.)

Work along with other workers, setting the pace.

Perform journeyman Lock and Dam Repairer and other related work, as applicable.
