About the role

This position is a senior-level leader responsible for driving the regional Private Banking strategy and leading a team of Private Banking personnel. This role requires experience leading a team with varying levels of responsibility, experience, and expertise. Proficiency in business development is critical as this role will retain a small but complex portfolio of business and will provide oversight to their direct reports' respective books of business. This role requires the ability to set strategic direction and gain buy-in from team members at all levels within the assigned Private Banking region.

Responsibilities
  • Drive regional strategy and provide direct leadership oversight to Private Banking personnel as they grow existing client deposit and loan relationships; to include providing solutions to daily client sales and service inquiries.
  • Provide leadership oversight to Private Banking team as needed for regional structure. Ensure all direct and/or indirect reports are effectively managed, assigned appropriate responsibilities and provided with opportunities that support their professional growth and development.
  • Participate in various professional associations and community activities to enhance the Bank’s visibility and to further personal and professional development.
  • Drive business development and ensure team is soliciting new banking relationships (Business/Personal Deposits and Loans, referrals to Wealth Management, Mortgage, Insurance, and other bank partners), through calling from prospect lists, external referral relationships, and referrals from existing bank partners.
  • Work with Bell Bank Marketing and Compliance to ensure all bank product and service marketing materials are regularly updated to reflect accurate data and details. Review competitor products, services, and programs for recommendation of new ideas, enhancements, or changes to marketing material as needed.
  • Serve as the primary contact for Private Banking team to executive leadership team.
  • Act as a liaison between executive leadership and to Private Banking team; ensuring key business updates are communicated timely.
  • Support the recruitment efforts of new employees, as needed. Seek out top talent in the market.
  • Act as a liaison for the Private Banking team in matters related to compliance, underwriting, loan servicing.
  • Act as a contact person for the Private Banking team with respect to matters requiring escalation and problem resolution.
  • Support the development of Private Banking team members to help them achieve their long term goals.
  • Conduct performance reviews for direct report team members; ensure performance reviews for employees deeper in the organization are completed in a timely manner.
  • Stay up-to-date on local market trends and the competitive landscape.

Education, Experience, and Other Expectations
  • Bachelor’s Degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or related field; or equivalent experience.
  • 10+ years of credit, lending or examining experience, experience in selling Consumer or Commercial deposits and loans.
  • Business Development experience.

  • Demonstrated ability leading people; preferably leading a teams with varying levels of responsibility, experience, and expertise.
  • Working knowledge of loan documentation.
  • Above-average written and communication skills.
  • Strong ability to influence and communicate across all levels of the organization.
  • Proficiency with computer technology.
  • Ability to deal with multiple tasks and deadlines.
  • Effective time management and organizational skills.
  • Flexible and adapts well to change.
  • Detail oriented, organized, and have excellent problem-solving skills.
