About the role

The Sr. Reconciliation Specialist will report to the Manager of Funding Operations in the H&B Operations Department. This role will own and perform plan funding reconciliations across pre-tax benefit platforms to ensure accuracy, compliance, and timely resolution of funding discrepancies. The Reconciliation Specialist reviews employer account activity, identifies funding gaps for all funding types, complexities and frequencies, uses independent judgement to outline process improvements, and collaborates with the Collections Specialists and Manager to support recovery efforts. The ideal candidate will have a compliance and financial controls mindset, strong attention to detail, critical thinking and decision-making skills, and the ability to work across multiple platforms and product types.

 

Responsibilities

  • Own and perform plan funding reconciliations across pre-tax benefit platforms including CBAS, Panda, and First Dollar to identify discrepancies then recommend tactics for resolution
  • Develop and maintain funding trackers and tools; document activity in business operations platforms with weekly reporting to the Manager
  • Own, test and maintain written operating procedures related to team reconciliation and collection functions
  • Review and update reconciliation records ensuring all entries, amounts, and documentation are accurate and complete
  • Analyze reconciliation results to identify emerging risks, funding trends, and operational issues, presenting recommendations to management.
  • Identify and escalate funding gaps, system discrepancies, and compliance concerns to the Manager or Team Lead
  • Collaborate with Collections Specialists to provide reconciliation findings that support funding collections outreach
  • Collaborate with the Manager, Team Lead, account managers, and platform partners to resolve compliance or financial controls issues
  • Support onboarding and training of new team members on reconciliation processes, systems, and controls.
  • Communicate and utilize sound judgment to escalate issues that may require intervention of the Manager or Team Lead
  • Assist with internal and external reconciliation requests
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Preferred Qualifications

Education and Experience:

  • 5-7 years reconciliation, banking, financial operations, compliance, or financial controls, preferably within healthcare benefits administration or financial services.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience with preference for accounting, finance, business, healthcare administration, or related operational experience.
  • Demonstrated experience analyzing complex funding discrepancies, researching root cause, documenting findings, and supporting timely resolution.
  • Experience working across multiple platforms, large data sets, and cross-functional business partners preferred.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Subject matter expertise with HSA, FSA, HRA, Commuter, and other pre-tax benefits
  • Strong customer service skills — verbal and active listening
  • A high level of attention to detail and excellent record keeping
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel data analysis skills including the ability to manage and analyze large data sets; Power Query skills a plus
  • Demonstrated track record with issue resolution, root-cause analysis, audit readiness, process documentation, and the ability to work independently with minimal oversight.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to pivot to higher priority tasks as they emerge
  • Demonstrated critical thinking and decision-making skills
  • Ability to pick up new things quickly, able to manage time wisely, mentor junior team members, and partner cross-functionally with Finance, Treasury, Client Services, Product, and platform teams
  • High degree of professionalism suited for direct client/partner interactions

Other Requirements:

  • Ability to work overtime
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
