About the role

Job Summary:

Responsible for developing, planning, and leading large or multiple projects to completion with a team of assigned engineers. Manage performance of assigned team members and coach to develop their skills and knowledge. Remove barriers to project completion and maintain industry knowledge of best practices and standards, driving continuous improvement upon processes and quality of products.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Plans, develops, coordinates and directs engineering projects for assigned area. Reviews work and data insights, providing recommendations and ensuring proposals align with sound business judgement. Provides direction to team members to ensure project goals and objectives are met.
  • Estimates production times, staffing requirements, and related costs. Partners with leadership and key stakeholders regarding manufacturing capabilities, production schedules, etc. to facilitate production processes.
  • Confers with suppliers and customers, both internal and external, to determine product specification and arrange for purchase of equipment, materials or parts. Understand system inter-dependencies and limitations to advise on best courses of action.
  • Oversee the development of assigned engineers, encouraging knowledge sharing and providing deliberate development opportunities. Assist them to set goals, and support their progress in broadening their engineering expertise and learning industry best practices. Leverage key partners such as Human Resources, departmental leaders, and experienced engineers to allow them to reach their highest potential.
  • Organize, lead, and participate in Kaizen events, implementing LEAN principles and technologies, and measuring results.
  • Completes highly complex cost justification analysis as assigned
  • Ensures compliance with all safety and environmental rules and regulations, keeping an organized work area and reporting concerns to leadership or the Safety team.

Job Skills & Abilities:

  • Relevant technical and computer skills (AutoCAD/SolidWorks, MS Access, and Excel.
  • Highly skilled at blueprint reading, engineering drawing interpretation and tolerancing.
  • Highly self-motivated with demonstrated problem solving skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills; Ability to partner effectively with employees at all levels
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Strong computer skills including AutoCAD, SolidWorks and MS Office (Word, Excel, and Access)

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering
  • Master’s Degree in Engineering or Engineering Management preferred
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in Engineering.

Physical Requirements:

  • May include:  standing, walking, bending, reaching, grabbing, twisting, carrying, pushing and pulling.
  • Must be able to lift up to 40lbs.
