James A. Haley VA Medical Center is seeking qualified and motivated Registered Nurses to join our Resource (Float) Pool. These nurses play a vital role in supporting patient care across multiple inpatient units and outpatient clinics, ensuring seamless coverage where needed most. The incumbent reports to the Nurse Manager within Nursing Operations.
James A Haley VA medical center and clinics have nursing vacancies for our Registered Nurse Resource (Float) Pool. This position reports to the Nurse Manager in the Nursing Operations department. Duties listed but not limited to: Collaborates in the development, implementation, evaluation, and revision of policies, procedures, and/or guidelines. Demonstrates performance and leadership that is broad enough to improve the care of all patient care areas included within Resource Pool assignments. Provides peers with formal or informal constructive feedback for improvement. Supports colleagues and other nurses through knowledge sharing to provide safe, quality nursing care. Fosters a safe and supportive environment conducive to the professional development of health care professionals. Leads efforts with management and within the Shared Governance Structure to alleviate identified care and culture disparities between units. Evaluates outcomes of evidence-based decisions and practice changes for individuals, groups, and populations. Responsible for the documented outcomes at the program or service level. Program or service level outcomes must be broad and complex and can be demonstrated at any organizational level within a facility. Collaboration, adaptability, and resourcefulness to meet, not only patient needs, but the needs of the facility. Serves as a registered nurse throughout all areas of the hospital or outpatient clinics where they are competent and trained in the level of care required for those assigned units. Provides the overall care for patients from admission to discharge. This includes, but is not limited to, medicating, providing for activities of daily living, treating, managing, assessing, documenting, and collaborating with the interdisciplinary team to attain optimal patient outcomes. Uses all available resources, communicates effectively, and promotes quality, cost-effective care that follows best practices in patient care. Responsible for participating in activities supporting nursing excellence, quality improvement and unit based and/or organizational level Shared Governance councils. Participation in the seasonal influenza vaccination program is a requirement for all Department of Veterans Affairs Health Care Personnel (HCP). You may be required to serve a probationary period.
