health status as a result of injury, illness or other causes, with some guidance. Actively collaborates with the health

Athletic Trainer - Intercollegiate (Term Position)

Vanderbilt University Medical Center (VUMC) Sports Medicine

Vanderbilt University Medical Center is seeking an entry-level Intercollegiate Athletic Trainer to support NCAA Division I student-athletes through injury prevention, evaluation, treatment, rehabilitation, and return-to-play services.

This position is ideal for a recent Athletic Training graduate or an Athletic Trainer with less than one year of experience who is looking to build experience in a Division I collegiate sports environment while working alongside experienced Sports Medicine professionals.

Athletic Trainers in this role collaborate with physicians, physical therapists, strength and conditioning staff, coaches, and other healthcare professionals to provide high-quality care to Vanderbilt student-athletes.

Sport Assignment

Assignments may include:

  • Women's Soccer
  • Lacrosse
  • Men's Basketball
  • Women's Basketball
  • Cross Country / Track & Field
  • Baseball
  • Other sports as determined by departmental need

Sport assignments are made based on program needs and staff development opportunities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in providing athletic training and sports medicine services for Division I student-athletes.
  • Evaluate, treat, and help manage athletic injuries and medical conditions under departmental guidelines.
  • Support injury prevention, rehabilitation, and return-to-play activities.
  • Collaborate with physicians, coaches, strength and conditioning staff, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Provide practice, competition, and event coverage as assigned.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and communication regarding athlete care.
  • Promote athlete health, safety, and wellness.

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree from an accredited Athletic Training program.
  • BOC Certified Athletic Trainer (or certification pending for recent graduates).
  • Eligible for Tennessee Athletic Trainer licensure.

Preferred

  • Intercollegiate athletic training experience through clinical rotations, internships, graduate assistantships, or employment.
  • Less than one year of professional Athletic Training experience.

Term Position Information

This is a 10-month term position intended to provide valuable Division I collegiate sports medicine experience. The position is designed for Athletic Trainers who are early in their careers and seeking professional development in a high-level sports medicine environment.

Analyzes comprehensive information pertinent to the patient's/athlete's care and management to determine patient/athlete functional capabilities within defined activity levels.

Employs strategies to promote health and a safe and healthy environment.
