About the role

Position Description:

Quality Inspectors at Wabash play a vital role in ensuring that every product meets the company’s standards for safety, durability, and craftsmanship. Inspectors audit processes, verify product quality throughout each production stage, and support continuous improvement by accurately documenting defects and contributing to problem-solving activities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Below are examples of the type of duties you could be responsible for:

  • Perform inspections on components, assemblies, sub-assemblies, and completed units following established Quality Assurance procedures.
  • Verify compliance with engineering specifications, work instructions, and quality standards.
  • Identify, document, and communicate nonconforming conditions to the appropriate production and quality personnel.
  • Take detailed photographs of the final unit to support documentation, compliance, and release procedures.
  • Complete Water Testing procedures.
  • Complete data entry and administrative tasks with accuracy and timeliness.
  • Attend meetings and support cross functional management with continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Prepare and move vehicles or units as needed (for example, water testing, final inspection lift gate evaluation, etc.).

Qualifications:

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to recognize deviations from standards.
  • Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with production, engineering, and quality teams.
  • Basic computer skills and willingness to learn inspection software and data-entry systems.
  • Ability to read tape measures and digital instrumentation.
  • Basic math skills.
  • Commitment to following established procedures, safety guidelines, and quality expectations.
  • Professionalism, reliability, and a positive attitude toward continuous improvement.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license.
  • Must have ability to read and write.

Knowledge, Training, Skills and/or Experience:

No prior experience is required. Wabash provides comprehensive training for all Quality positions. New team members receive orientation and several days of hands-on training before transitioning to the production floor. Training includes inspection methods, defect identification, documentation requirements, and location-specific procedures.

Working Conditions/Environment:

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. An employee in this position works in an environment in which safety, environmental, and health concerns may demand constant attention. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to fumes or airborne particles, as well as moving mechanical parts and vibrations. The employee is occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions at job sites where the noise level can be very loud with high temperatures at times. Physical Demands:

As an Quality Inspector, you are regularly required to stand, walk, lean, push, climb, sit, bend, kneel, stoop, handle, and operate tools or controls for the entirety of their shift. The employee needs full range of motion in arms and hands, all Quality Inspectors must be able to successfully communicate with fellow employees as well. Some Quality Inspectors also work in small spaces throughout their shift and frequently lift and/or carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus, along with good hand-eye coordination.
