TERO COMPLIANCE SAFETY OFFICER

License/Certification Requirements: Must have a valid MN driver’s license, current insurance and reliable transportation.
Summary: Ensure covered employers meet TERO Ordinance reporting requirements, monitor construction projects for compliance and safety, and coordinate worker referrals through the TERO Office.
Education Requirements and Experience:
High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (G.E.D) preferred.
Two years formal post-secondary education is preferred.
Minimum of two years’ experience in Compliance is preferred.
Additional Qualifications and Skills:
Must have knowledge of employment rights, labor laws and manpower training.
Knowledge of investigative techniques, objectives and ability to extract and discover information with initiative is required.
Be self-motivated, responsible and dependable.
Must have good oral and written communication and customer service skills.
Excellent ability to follow direction and procedures and maintain confidentiality.

None
Duties/Responsibilities:
Maintain and update contractor files, compliance plans, insurance certificates, and business license records.
Review and track compliance forms, business license renewals, and contractor documentation for accuracy and timeliness.
Assist with entering and maintaining data in Tribe Vue or other TERO tracking databases. Support the TERO Director and Compliance Officers with correspondence, reports, and document preparation.
Receive and log compliance plans, and other documentation related to projects.
Assist in compliance meetings as needed.
Monitor and follow up on expired or missing compliance items from contractors.
Maintain confidentiality and ensure professional ethics in all duties.
Attend and/or conduct required meetings.
Conduct regular safety inspections and audits to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with safety standards.
Develop and implement safety policies and procedures to maintain a safe work environment.
Investigate accidents, incidents, and near-miss occurrences, and develop corrective measures to prevent future incidents.
Maintain accurate records of safety-related incidents, inspections and compliance documentation.
Engage in other activities as are deemed necessary to achieve the purposes and objectives inherent in the policy of Indian Preference in employment and in contracting.
Attend and or conduct all mandatory meetings and trainings as required.
Maintain confidentiality and professional ethics at all times.
Travel in and out of the state on a possibly regular basis.
Understanding and sensitivity to Native American culture. Adhere to policies governing staff conduct.
All other related duties as assigned.
Physical Requirements:
Driving in sub-optimal road and weather conditions.
Sedentary work.
