About the role
Essential/Primary Job Duties:
* Manage and oversee the complete payroll process, including timekeeping, payroll calculations, deductions, adjustments and final payroll submission
* Process and review biweekly and semi-monthly payroll for multi-state employee population
* Review payroll reports, reconcile payroll data, research and resolve discrepancies
* Provide guidance and serve as a subject matter expert on payroll policies, procedures, taxability and compliance requirements
* Supervise, train, and develop payroll staff, ensuring effective workload distribution and consistent payroll practices
* Establish and maintain payroll procedures, internal controls, and process improvements to enhance accuracy and efficiency
* Support internal and external payroll audits and provide payroll reports, analysis, and documentation as requested
* Ensure integrity of payroll data and timely completion and compliance, with divisional and corporate policies, procedures and state regulations
* Review, reconcile and process payroll-related invoices received from state agencies and ADP, ensuring charges are accurate, properly supported, and appropriately allocated
* Manage monthly, quarterly and year-end payroll reconciliation processes, including reviewing taxable wages, deductions, payroll taxes, and employee earnings to ensure accurate year-end reporting
* Prepare, review, and coordinate the issuance of annual W-2 forms, including verifying employee information, taxable wages, and tax withholdings
* Prepare, review, and submit amended payroll tax returns and other required payroll amendments, ensuring accuracy and compliance with applicable deadlines
* Compile special reports on payroll matters
* Maintain account reconciliation and general ledger entries as pertains to payroll
* Maintain appropriate internal controls for audit compliance
* Knowledge of HR policies and procedures related to Payroll
* Audit and approve all input for transmission to ADP
* Regular and predictable attendance and punctuality
* Other duties as assigned
Physical Requirements:
* Must be able to remain in a sitting stationary position for extended periods of time
* Constantly operate a computer and other office machinery
* Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds

Minimum Qualifications and Education Required:
* At least 18 years of age
* High school diploma or equivalent
* Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Finance, or Accounting preferred
* Minimum of five (5) years of Payroll Management experience
* CPP Certification required
* Knowledge of DOL, IRS and other relevant federal, state and local regulations
* In-depth knowledge of payroll processing using HCM platforms, ADP Enterprise experience preferred
* Proficient with Microsoft Office applications suite
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills
* Must be detail oriented, analytical, and organized
* Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines with accuracy
* Must successfully pass background investigation according to company policy
* Must be able to get along with co-workers and work effectively in a team environment
